Tier II Project Engineer

Upward Technology
Portland, OR, US
Posted Apr 28, 2026

Why This Role Matters

We're hiring a Tier II Project Engineer to take on the dynamic implementation work that keeps our clients' infrastructure running and growing. You'll be the engineer behind real projects — server deployments, network upgrades, M365 migrations, identity rollouts — working alongside our senior engineers and stepping in on escalations when Tier I needs backup.

This is a hands\-on infrastructure role with a clear growth path. If you're a strong Tier I or II engineer who's ready to own bigger projects end\-to\-end and build deeper expertise across the Microsoft and networking stack, this is the seat for you.

About Upward Technology

Upward Technology is a Portland\-based MSP focused on small and mid\-sized manufacturers. We're known for going deeper than typical MSPs — building real expertise in our clients' industries and technology stacks rather than treating IT as a commodity. Our team is small, technically strong, and allergic to bureaucracy.

What You'll Do

* Lead and execute project work — server deployments, network refreshes, M365 tenant setups, firewall replacements, and infrastructure migrations

* Manage and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services

* Configure and troubleshoot networks — switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and Wi\-Fi for SMB client environments

* Administer Microsoft 365 environments — Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID

* Handle escalated tickets from Tier I engineers when issues require deeper expertise

* Provide occasional desktop and end\-user support during projects, onboardings, and on\-site visits

* Document your work — configurations, runbooks, and knowledge base articles so the rest of the team can support what you build

* Visit client sites in the Portland metro area as needed for project work and hardware deployments
