We are seeking a proactive, highly efficient legal professional with at least 5 years of litigation experience with knowledge of Tennessee state court procedures a must. This position involves a lot of interaction with attorneys, multi\-tasking, ability to meet deadlines, and prioritization. This person will perform legal research, draft and file legal documents, and manage client relationships.

Legal Research and Analysis

This position will be responsible for assisting his/her attorney in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediation, and trials. A large part of these responsibilities consists of analyzing case\-specific facts and circumstances to help develop a strategy for case management and gathering relevant information to the case. This includes researching the facts of the case as well as identifying the appropriate laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles relevant to the case.

Drafting Legal Documents

This can include drafting correspondence and pleadings, such as complaints, subpoenas, interrogatories, requests for production of documents, deposition notices, pretrial orders, and routine motions.

Law Office Administration

Paralegals are expected to handle administrative tasks such as filing, correspondence, scanning, mailing, calendar management and data entry. They must have strong computer and database management skills, along with the ability to maintain and organize files. They must be able to learn and utilize the client database system for data entry, checklists, documentation, and interoffice communications. They should have an organized mind and the ability to multitask and comply with deadlines.

  • Litigation paralegal experience (Minimum of 5 years)
  • Plaintiff personal injury litigation experience
  • Experience contacting court clerks’ offices throughout the State of Tennessee
  • Experience contacting private process servers and private investigators
  • Experience drafting and submitting public record requests to various state and municipal entities
  • Familiarity with eFlex and any other Tennessee state court e\-filing programs, Pacer, Westlaw, and the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Work Environment

    This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners, postage machines and fax machines. A hybridwork schedule is possible as long as the candidate has a dedicated, private space in a remote and secure environment in which to conduct work when away from the office.

    Physical Demands

    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full\-time position. Employee must be able to work an 8\-hour workday between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday. No travel is expected for this position, but in the event any travel is required, gas mileage will be reimbursed at current IRS tax rates.

    This is an hourly pay position, with rate commensurate with experience plus biannual bonuses and employee profit sharing.
