Medical Records Assistant
Position Summary

These are second opinion evaluations conducted as part of the workers' compensation, liability, and disability claims process. Applicants should understand we are not a medical clinic and we do not see patients. This position is a M\-F, 8am\-5pm, in\-office position.
We are looking for a self\-starter that is detail\-oriented and adaptable. Applicants must have a proven history of accuracy and attention to detail. The candidate that best fits this role will complete a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, phone calls, data entry, general admin tasks, and electronic cataloging, sorting and filing.
This position requires an uncanny attention to detail, strong problem\-solving and communication skills. The Medical Records Assistant's primary responsibility is to efficiently check in and review medical records while maintaining accuracy in a fast\-paced environment. This position requires adherence to established laws and regulations regarding confidentiality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Check in and electronically store medical records, imaging and cover letters.
- Prioritize files to be reviewed to maintain efficient processing procedures.
- Review received medical records for accurate sorting.
- Request imaging studies for files.
- Log all steps of check in process and communicate needs to internal staff.
- Monitor department e\-mail.
- One (1\) year of medical records or medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Excellent multitasking skills within a fast\-paced environment.
- Intermediate computer and database skills with proficiency using the internet and email.
- Proven strength in attention to detail.
- Excellent prioritization skills with a strong sense of urgency.
- The ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instruction.
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements.
- The proven ability to work independently and understand the dynamics of a working team.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of claimant information.
- Professionalism and a positive attitude on a daily basis.
- A sense of humor and ability to inject fun into their work!
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements with both hands to scan paper records and for data entry on a keyboard.
