Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is located in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. + Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.

+ Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to grab or handle objects, and talk and hear. Work Environment:
+ The work environment is that of an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
TRAINING: One Month; should meet performance standards within three months.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Department Manager, Office Administrator, and Assistant District Attorney
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1\. Prepares cases for opening in Action by annotating and arranging in date sequence each case according to defendant’s name, case number and court date.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Attention should be paid to ensure cases are correctly organized to be opened two – four weeks before the first court date.
2\. Opens traffic, misdemeanor and domestic violence cases in Action, meeting all deadlines. Downloads reports, photos, 911 calls, etc., or requests from law enforcement agencies if not already electronically filed.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Entries should be accurate and thorough with attention paid to correct statute numbers, missing charges and errors made by the court. Contacts the court when necessary so they can correct their errors. Domestic violence cases are a priority and are opened each day before other cases.
3\. Enters victim information when needed and reviews summonses and reports to determine if a victim impact statement is required. If so, workflows the Restitution Department requesting the VIS be sent out.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Reports and summonses should be reviewed thoroughly to determine the necessity for a VIS and the victims’ addresses should be entered accurately.
4\. Processes emailed requests from County and District Court legal assistants and maintains a spreadsheet of cases that have been requested to be opened.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: These files are processed immediately as they either have quickly\-approaching court dates or discovery has been requested.
5\. Receives monthly list from the court of arrest warrant cases the court has opened which must then be opened in Action. Opens temporary cases for prosecutorial review of filing charges for law enforcement officers and workflows Chief DDA.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: All cases from the list should be opened and sent to a paralegal by the end of the month in which received. Reports should be downloaded or requested from the law enforcement agencies. Temporary cases are opened immediately for Chief DDA review.
- Generates and prints discoverable information letter to law enforcement agencies in accordance with Rule 3\.8 of the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Letters are mailed to law enforcement agencies on a weekly basis.
7\. Reviews Saturday and holiday advisement dockets at the beginning of the week to ensure accuracy. Generates discoverable information letter to law enforcement agencies for these cases.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Corrects any errors.
8\. Responds to telephone and walk\-in inquiries from staff or other law enforcement agencies.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Telephone and walk\-in requests should be handled in a courteous manner and diverted only when not within your power to offer assistance. Take messages if proper person is not available. Ensure message is delivered.
