The Development Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and project support to the Development team, with a primary focus on fundraising events, Board meetings, and departmental initiatives. This role works closely with leadership to coordinate logistics, support event execution, and manage day\-to\-day operations. In addition, the position assists with research to support fundraising strategy and donor engagement, as well as social media efforts that help promote events and organizational priorities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail\-oriented, and thrives in a fast\-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Chief of Development and Associate Director of Fundraising and Events.
- Support the planning and execution of all Ripken Foundation fundraising events and Board meetings.
- Collaborate with development staff on the planning, implementation and follow\-up process for each event, and assist as needed.
- Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown. Help coordinate logistics and communication with vendors to ensure successful event operations.
- Track and enter expenses into event budgets and process departmental invoices in a timely manner.
- Support the procurement of auction items, manage event auction logistics, and handle all post\-event fulfillment.
- Oversee the shipping and distribution of all departmental packages and materials.
- Coordinate internal meetings and provide administrative support across the department, including gifting, expense reporting, and general operations.
- Assist the Executive team with scheduling, meeting coordination, gifting, and administrative support for both internal and external engagements.
- Conduct research to support development initiatives, including identifying prospective donors, sponsors, and event opportunities.
- Assist with social media efforts, including drafting content, coordinating posts, and supporting event promotion across platforms.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, respond to questions, and direct callers to appropriate people as necessary.
- 1\-3 years of experience in related fields
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to travel to select events and meetings outside of Baltimore.
- Must be able to lift and transport items weighing up to 40 pounds as needed.
- Strong degree of initiative and creativity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to successfully multi\-task.
- Excellent organizational skills and innovative problem\-solving skills.
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend availability for special events.
