Academic Advisor (HEa) \- Colin Powell School (3 Positions)

POSITION DETAILS

The Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at The City College of New York is hiring three Academic Advisers to support and advise undergraduate students. The Academic Advisers will join the Colin Powell School’s Office of Academic Advising, which currently consists of six full\-time advisers. They will report to the Director of this office and will be responsible for one\-on\-one advising, developing and implementing programs to support student success, and monitoring and reporting on student progress toward degrees, as required by the College and CUNY.

The Colin Powell School is home to the City College of New York's social science departments as well as the College's core business, public service, and leadership development programs. With almost 4000 students and graduating the most CCNY students annually, the Colin Powell School's mission is to transform the nation's most diverse student body into tomorrow's global leaders. Half of our students are immigrants, and most come from lower\-income backgrounds. More than sixty percent are first\-generation college students, and eighty\-five percent are people of color. The Colin Powell School and City College remain among the most effective engines of economic and social mobility in the United States. The successful candidates will help advance this mission with a focus on academic progress and success for our students.

The City College of New York is located in the heart of New York City. CCNY is ranked \#1 by The Chronicle of Higher Education out of 369 selective public colleges in the United States on the overall mobility index. This measure reflects both access and outcomes, representing the likelihood that a student at CCNY can move up two or more income quintiles. In addition, the Center for World University Rankings places CCNY in the top 1\.2% of universities worldwide in terms of academic excellence. More than 16,000 students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in eight professional schools and divisions, driven by significant funded research, creativity, and scholarship. CCNY is as diverse, dynamic, and visionary as New York City itself.
