Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator at the front desk of a medical practice. This vital role combines exceptional patient service with administrative excellence, ensuring smooth operations and positive patient experiences. As a Medical Receptionist, you will manage appointment scheduling, handle medical records, and support clinical staff with administrative tasks. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a welcoming environment for patients and staff alike.
The practice is small (one practioner), leaving the ability to work from home one day a week and some afternoons. It is ideal for someone with an excellent work ethic who is looking for a hybrid model. Must be willing to go to Manhattan one day a week; the other four dyas are Mondays are in Westchester.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system (Practice Fusion/Updox)
- Call insurance companies and labs
- Collect and process patient payments, including outstanding balances related to medical billing and collections.
- Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Review documentation such as care plans, ICD\-10/ICD\-9/ICD coding, CPT codes, and medical notes for completeness and correctness.
- Manage multi\-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handling inquiries, appointment rescheduling, and patient follow\-ups.
- Assist with insurance verification procedures and coordinate with providers for authorization requests.
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating medical histories, and managing office supplies.
- Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
- strong computer skills is essential
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD\-10/ICD\-9\), CPT coding, and medical billing processes is helpful
- Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven ability to handle clerical tasks data entry (including 10 key typing), and document review efficiently.
