Is This You?
You’re an experienced NP or PA who loves primary care but doesn’t want — or can’t do — a traditional full\-time schedule. Maybe you have young kids, a spouse with a demanding career, or you simply value flexibility over guaranteed hours. You want to practice at the top of your license in a setting where you’re trusted as a clinical partner, not treated as a task\-completion machine.
You’re comfortable working independently, you document well, and you enjoy the kind of clinical autonomy that comes with a small practice. You’re looking for a role where you’re trusted and valued, not micromanaged.
The Opportunity
Catalpa Clinic is a physician\-owned solo family medicine practice in Bremerton, WA. We’ve been open for nearly four years, and the practice is growing. Dr. Bryan Wooldridge is in the clinic 3–4 days per week and is looking for a part\-time advanced practice provider to serve as a clinical partner — someone who can see follow\-up patients, handle overflow, and cover the practice during planned absences.
This is not a production\-line job. You’ll work with an established patient panel in a practice that values thoroughness over volume. We spend time with our patients, and we expect you to do the same.
What You’d Be Doing
- Seeing follow\-up visits for Dr. Wooldridge’s established patients — blood pressure rechecks, chronic disease management, medication adjustments, lab reviews, and similar care that follows an existing plan of care.
- Handling overflow visits (virtual and in\-person) when Dr. Wooldridge’s schedule is full or when patients need to be seen sooner than his next available slot.
- Covering the clinic during Dr. Wooldridge’s planned absences (approximately two 2\-week vacations per year, plus occasional shorter absences), with full access to the clinic space.
- Conducting telehealth visits from the clinic or your own home office, depending on the day and your preference.
- Managing the Elation Health inbox during your working hours — responding to patient messages, reviewing and acting on lab results, handling prescription refill requests, and triaging clinical questions.
- Completing encounter documentation in Elation Health, including timely chart closure and appropriate coding.
- $75–$90 per hour depending on experience and credential. This is an hourly W\-2 position — you are paid for hours worked, including both patient\-facing time and associated documentation and administrative time.
- Malpractice insurance provided through The Doctors Company at no cost to you.
- Washington State paid sick leave accrues per state law (1 hour per 40 hours worked).
- WA Paid Family \& Medical Leave (PFML) contributions as required by law.
- Elation Health EMR with full provider\-level access and training provided.
- Active, unrestricted Washington State ARNP or PA\-C license.
- Active DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain).
- National certification (AANP or ANCC for NPs; NCCPA for PAs).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in family medicine or primary care.
- Active NPI number.
- Comfort with telehealth platforms and virtual patient care.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- For NPs: 4,000\+ hours of post\-licensure clinical experience (qualifying for full practice authority under RCW 18\.79, allowing independent practice without a collaborative agreement).
- Established familiarity with the Kitsap County medical community and referral networks.
- Prior telehealth experience (training provided).
- Weekend or evening availability.
- Elation Health EMR training and workflow orientation.
- Introduction to practice protocols, formulary, and referral patterns.
- Shadowing and chart review period to familiarize yourself with the patient panel.
- Gradual ramp\-up in patient volume, starting with lower\-acuity follow\-ups.
- A supervised coverage period before your first independent coverage week.
- Flexible schedule
- Family medicine: 2 years (Required)
- Washington State ARNP license or PA\-C license? (Required)
A note about your patient population: You’ll be working with Dr. Wooldridge’s established panel — patients with documented histories, existing care plans, and an established relationship with the practice. Dr. Wooldridge sees all new patients. This means you’re stepping into relationships that already exist rather than building a panel from scratch, and you have the benefit of a complete chart history to inform your clinical decisions.
Schedule \& Structure
This position offers 10–20 hours per week. The minimum expectation is 1–2 in\-clinic days per week, with additional flexibility for telehealth on other days. We can also accommodate a schedule of up to 5 shorter days per week if that better fits your life. The specific schedule will be negotiated before you start based on what works for both of us.
The flexibility goes both ways. We’ll give you as much advance notice as possible when the schedule needs to adjust, and we understand that your availability will shift from time to time too. The goal is a working relationship where both sides communicate openly and plan ahead.
Dr. Wooldridge is in the clinic 3–4 days per week and takes approximately two 2\-week vacations per year, plus occasional shorter absences for CME. During these periods, you would serve as the covering clinician. This coverage is a core part of the role, and dates are coordinated well in advance.
Telehealth Flexibility
On days when you don’t have in\-person patients scheduled, you’re welcome to see telehealth patients from home or from the office — your preference. Many follow\-ups, chronic disease check\-ins, and lab review visits are well\-suited to virtual care, and we encourage using telehealth where clinically appropriate.
Compensation \& Support
This position does not currently include health insurance, retirement benefits, or PTO beyond what is required by Washington State law. The hourly rate reflects this.
