*Duties:
- The Chief of Staff assists the Mayor in providing strategic direction, leadership, and coordination of all municipal services in alignment with established goals, policies, and priorities, either directly or through subordinate leadership staff. Promotes and cultivates a culture centered on exceptional customer service, innovation, accountability, and continuous performance improvement through effective goal setting and evaluation. Oversees and ensures the efficient and effective day\-to\-day operations of the City, maintaining high standards of service delivery across all departments. Serves as the Mayor's second\-in\-command and a key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic counsel and operational leadership. Acts as a central liaison between the Mayor's Office and internal departments, City Council, external agencies, and the public. Oversees the day\-to\-day operations of city government to ensure efficient, effective, and responsive service delivery. Facilitates communication and coordination between the Mayor and the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation, supporting economic growth initiatives. Represents the Mayor in meetings with federal, state, county, and local officials, as well as business leaders, community organizations, and the media. Engages with City Council members to address inquiries, provide updates, and support policy implementation. Leads or directs special projects, strategic initiatives, and policy development efforts as assigned by the Mayor. Conducts research, analysis, and fact\-finding to inform decision\-making and policy recommendations. Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of the City's annual budget in collaboration with department leaders, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities. Evaluates organizational performance and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency, accountability, and service quality. Promotes a culture of innovation, transparency, accountability, and customer\-focused service throughout the organization. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and programs aligned with the Mayor's goals and City Council directives. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and city policies. Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses. Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies. Performs other duties as assigned by the Mayor.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four\-year college or university. Six (6\) to eight (8\) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in government, public administration, or a related field, including supervisory experience. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Proven experience preparing reports, correspondence, and policy documents. Valid State Driver's License and good driving record. PREFERRED: Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field Experience working in a Mayor's Office, City Manager's Office, or similar executive\-level government environment Knowledge of local economic development practices and public\-private partnerships
