Health Professions Mentor \- College Assistant (Hourly)
GENERAL DUTIES
- Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part\-time basis or for a period of limited duration.
- There is one Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as
- Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year.
- Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records,
- Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
- Acts as cashier.
- Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports.
- Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals.
- Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment.
- Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules.
- May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks.
- Prepare and tutor students in core high school subjects, including science, math, and English
- Assist students with HPMP assignments and research projects
- Develop and structure lesson plans for summer sessions and monthly sessions throughout the eighteen\-month program
- Coordinate educational enrichment activities, such as museum visits, clinical site tours, virtual healthcare experiences, and faculty lectures
- Facilitate discussions and problem\-based learning exercises to foster critical thinking skills
- Maintain records of student attendance, absences, and tardiness
- Collaborate with the Office of Admissions Coordinator to provide lunch and support administrative tasks related to HPMP, including research poster sessions and coordinating guest speakers and lectures.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Sophie Davis/CUNY School of Medicine offers a comprehensive enrichment program designed to prepare high school students for careers in healthcare.
The Health Professions Mentorship Program (HPMP) provides early exposure to healthcare career options for students who have completed their sophomore year of high school. Enrolled students spend nearly two years learning about healthcare disparities, social determinants of health, and participating in research.
Sophie Davis students in their second or third undergraduate years serve as mentors and teaching assistants, alongside current medical students and CUNY School of Medicine faculty. Healthcare experiences include trips to St. Barnabas Hospital, participation in research, and exposure to a variety of healthcare professionals.
We are seeking Sophie Davis/CUNY School of Medicine students who have completed their first or second year of undergraduate education to serve as mentors. Selected students will report directly to the Director of Admissions and Enrichment Programs.

This is a part\-time position of up to 20 hours per week, scheduling of the days can be worked out.
