TS Banking Group is seeking to hire an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller assists with maintaining an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the bank and holding company; develops and maintains asset, liability, income, and expense data as a basis for financial planning and decision making; oversees disbursement of all funds by all departments.
Education and experience preferred includes: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or institution with the major area of study in Accounting. Possess a minimum of three years of professional accounting experience. Experience in public accounting industry preferred. Certified Public Accountant's License preferred.

- To effectively perform the job, must have reliable transportation to travel to and from work and other work\-related events, meetings, interactions with clients, etc.
- Ability to operate the following: telephone, personal computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs. Advanced PC knowledge beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees of company and the general public. Must possess good communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to perform all other duties as assigned.
- Directly supervises assigned employees and performs administrative duties associated with staff management (e.g., trains employees, delegates work and ensures the completion of same, prepares and publishes work schedule, reviews and approves timesheets, coaches and counsels employees, prepares performance evaluations and conducts evaluation meetings, conducts staff meetings, makes salary and promotional recommendations, participates in recruitment, interview, and hiring process, administers progressive discipline, takes action regarding departmental activities and staff, approves/disapproves requests for leave time, notifies employees of mandatory training and bank meetings). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Review all expenditures to ensure the propriety of the amount, the appropriateness of the accounting treatment, and the existence of proper authorization.
- Review end of month/year end investment accounting reconciliation.
- Prepare and review Bond Investment, Fed Funds and Bond Payments General Ledger entries.
- Work directly with brokers, cashiers and portfolio managers for portfolio investments, as well as reconciliation of bookkeeping.
- Ensure accounting entries are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and federal and state banking standards.
- Assist with fixed asset reporting.
- Create and run queries on the core processing system.
- Serve as backup for Bankers Bank daily reconciliations.
- Serve as backup for cash management and investing.
- Assist with external audits, internal audits, and regulatory exams.
- Prepare financial schedules, notes, and worksheets for the annual financial statements.
- Maximize return on financial transactions by establishing financial policies, procedures, and controls, and by managing the reporting systems.
- Supervise and direct Accounting Specialists.
- Assist in other special projects as requested by the CFO and Controller
- Prepare payroll entries of the banking group
- Assist and review preparation of regulatory filings: Call Reports, Y\-9s, and Y\-6\.
- Position may require the ability to work before or after normal business hours to meet required deadlines and attend meetings and/or training programs.
