GENERAL PURPOSE
The Facilities Operations Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and updating safety, security, and risk management programs for all facilities.
This position will interface with all programs/program sites to ensure compliance and success. This position will work closely with the Programs Director and Executive Assistant to finalize policies and procedures.
This position needs to be familiar with all shelter sites, which will include regular/as needed on\-site presence at each shelter site and regular communication/coordination with each Shelter Manager and Facilities Support Advocate.
The Facilities Operations Coordinator is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the physical shelter environment for survivors of domestic violence and their children. This position oversees building maintenance, safety systems, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance to ensure the shelter remains a secure, confidential, and trauma‑informed space that supports healing and stability. This position also assists with safety\-related protocols and emergency preparedness planning for shelter facilities and community\-based service sites.
SVS is a non\-profit organization whose mission is to provide options to anyone who has experienced domestic and sexual violence. SVS provides free and confidential services including emergency shelter, safe housing, trauma\-informed counseling, advocacy, and tools for life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILTIES
· Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance. The ability to arrive on time and work scheduled shifts is necessary to provide the required level of attention to ensure facilities maintain their safe and efficient operation.
· Review facilities protocol/procedures and revise regularly for updates/compliance.
· Address all workplace safety needs, Workers Compensation and incident reporting, and provide staff opportunities to give feedback on program operations.
· Provide detailed commendations/reports/quotes/bids/proposals on special capital/hard cost grant projects, facility\-related projects, building maintenance, upkeep, and repairs as requested by the Executive Director, Development team, and others and in accordance with our Procurement Policy.
· Supervise facilities project coordination which includes: conducting research and verifying specific needs; contacting vendors to obtain expert input on issues such as security systems, environmental quality issues, environmental sensors, environmental toxins, gate security, generator operations, electrical panel labels, and other needs; and communicating/updating management/Board members as needed.
· Liaise with all landlord/property manager points of contact for rented spaces, as needed, and review with the Programs Director.
· Create/update procedures for emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and site security and train staff to ensure they are followed at all times.
· Monitor/oversee/conduct all required site drills such as those for fire, earthquake, shelter in place, and bomb threat.
· Provide training for staff on use of fire extinguishers, emergency protocols, security breaches, how to identify safety/security concerns/risks, and writing incident reports.
· Responsible to ensure compliance with all DHHS safety/security\-related requirements and DHHS audit preparation.
· Responsible for annual reviews of our emergency plan as required by DHHS, which includes protocols for proper handling of contraband (guns, knives, controlled substances, etc.)
· Responsible for all SVS vehicle maintenance/inspection monitoring and completion; and coordinate/analyze/assess vehicle\-related issues/needs.
· Demonstrate support for/practice SVS strategic imperative of being part of a 360\-degree, trauma\-informed organization.
· Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of all employee, volunteer, donor, and client information.
· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with donors, staff, volunteers, clients, and vendors.
· Perform CPR and administer First Aid as needed.
OTHER DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare reports as requested.
· Co\-chairing the Facilities Committee meetings
· Chair the Emergency Preparedness Planning Committee
· Participate in strategic planning/budget planning meetings.
· Attend all SVS meetings and training as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS \& SKILLS
· Minimum one year experience with oversight for facilities/maintenance/safety responsibilities at a residential facility.
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written in English).
· Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
· Experience managing multiple projects in a fast\-paced environment while meeting critical deadlines and ensuring high quality work product.
- Proficient with technology as required for efficient completion of duties, and use of Teams, SharePoint apps, Excel, Verkada, dashcams, and vehicle\-related technology.

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing in English.
· Pass and maintain eligible status on a Direct Access Clearance System (DACS) criminal background check.
· Obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days and recertify every two years.
· Ability to achieve approved driver status (possess current driver license/acceptable driving record).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 1\-2 years’ experience with oversight for facilities/maintenance/safety responsibilities at a residential facility.
· English/Spanish fluency.
WORKING CONDITIONS \& PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The working environment includes an office environment and a residential shelter environment. Moving around the shelter to perform maintenance, conduct security and safety checks, and assist with cleaning and restocking is required. This may include going up and down stairs and lifting/moving items. Moving around outside the shelter in all weather conditions is required. ESA/Service animals may be present at shelters with their owners. This position may allow for a blend of on\-site and limited remote work with communications done regularly via email and Teams. In\-office attendance may be required for meetings, training, and other events.
This position may allow a hybrid work structure of in\-office/on\-site (four days weekly) and remote (one day weekly) attendance. However, the priority for this position is to be available on site as needed. This may vary based on task assignments and requirements. Please note that this structure may change if/when the needs of the organization change.
This mobile position is responsible for providing transportation to and from the various work sites in Salt Lake, Tooele, and Carbon counties, and will report to work at various locations as needed.
