Position Summary
Hamilton College, a small liberal arts college located in Clinton, NY, invites candidates to join the Office of Admission as an Assistant Dean of Admission.
The Assistant Dean will join a team characterized by teamwork and camaraderie. Successful candidates will demonstrate a high level of energy and commitment, exceptional creative and organization skills, strong problem\-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and in teams. A strong customer service focus, coupled with excellent communication, will be essential. We value diverse perspectives and seek a candidate committed to fostering an inclusive environment. This role requires the ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
The Assistant Dean role is ideal for emerging professionals with interest—and professional or volunteer experience—in higher education. The Assistant Dean will work as part of an inclusive team on campus to achieve the College’s goals in enrolling a class of accomplished students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
This is a full\-time, benefited position, physically located on our campus in Clinton, scheduled to begin in Summer 2026\.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage recruitment processes within an assigned geographic territory.
- Represent Hamilton and articulate the value of a liberal arts education to various constituencies: prospective students and their families, secondary school and community\-based organization counselors and advisors, and others.
- Interview, recruit, and build relationships with prospective students.
- Travel independently to secondary schools, college fairs, and other off\-campus programs (3\-5 weeks in the fall; 1\-2 weeks in the spring).
- Review, evaluate, and provide recommendations on admission files and applications, in excess of 60 per day during high volume periods.
- Utilize effective communication through delivering presentations and information sessions to both internal and external audiences and through other media, such as phone, email, social networking, and virtual conferencing.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four\-year institution
- Current valid driver’s license
- Previous experience in higher education, college admission and counseling, or application evaluation is preferred, but not required

Compensation Range:
$62,354 per year
