Responsibilities
- Process payroll using advanced payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform data entry for employee hours, benefits, deductions, and tax information with precision.
- Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage benefits administration tasks related to payroll, including deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by preparing and submitting required reports.
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions by verifying vendor payments and employee reimbursements.
- Assist with governmental accounting procedures and non\-profit accounting processes when applicable.
- Utilize various financial software such as QuickBooks, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or HRIS systems to streamline payroll operations.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate recordkeeping related to employee status changes and benefits enrollment.
- Proven experience with payroll management using systems like Workday, ADP, Paychex or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits \& credits, general ledger reconciliation, and journal entries.
- Familiarity with financial concepts such as accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and governmental accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks or equivalent tools; experience with HRIS platforms is a plus.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing is preferred.
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively and identify discrepancies quickly.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes related to payroll is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast\-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of human resources functions related to payroll processing is advantageous.
