The Assistant Director of Camps is responsible for the strategic development, logistical execution, and daily oversight of all seasonal programming, including summer camps, school break camps, and childcare for in\-service days. This role also manages student transportation for camp programs.

### Duties and Responsibilities

#### Summer Programs and School Break Camps

  • Develops the annual summer camp program, school break programs, and staff childcare for in\-service and conference days before and during the school year, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and revenue objectives.
  • Assesses, evaluates, and improves camps to meet demand and sustainably grow the program.
  • Conducts formal surveys of families to obtain feedback on camp effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the day\-to\-day logistics and execution of all seasonal programs, ensuring they are properly staffed and supplied.
  • Enforces all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures in compliance with Colorado State Licensing guidelines.
  • Manages, schedules, and oversees bus availability for field trips; must be willing and able to drive the 14\-passenger school bus. (training to be provided, must be able to pass school MVR requirements)
  • Performs database management, including registration configuration, data entry, reporting, and billing in the appropriate camp registration system.
  • Encourages the pipeline from summer programs to ISDenver school\-year enrollment.
  • Maintains Director Qualification for ECE and school\-age children according to Colorado State Licensing Standards.
  • #### Administration, Finance, and Human Resources

  • Recruits, hires, and supervises all summer program and break camp staff, ensuring school policies and Colorado licensing requirements are met.
  • Develops and manages the annual budget for camps, tracking and documenting expenses in accordance with business office procedures.
  • Creates the annual ISDenver summer program brochure and marketing schedule in conjunction with Advancement staff.
  • Works with the finance and HR offices to ensure accurate payroll and compliance with labor laws.
  • Provides backup support and cross\-training for the Assistant Director of Auxiliary \- Extended Day School and Athletics Development (EDS) to ensure operational continuity.
  • ### Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer literate, specifically in Google Suite of products and database management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independently resolve issues.
  • A positive, collaborative team player with a "team\-first" mentality.
  • ### Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be substituted.
  • English proficiency with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • + Level B2 required, C1\+ preferred (based on Common European Framework of References for Languages) or equivalent certification such as TOEFL or IETLS.
  • ### Must obtain or possess a Colorado Director of Early Childhood/School\-Age license within one year of hire.

  • Must be based in the Denver area.
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms and see, talk and hear
  • Exposure to natural elements such as heat and cold
  • The employee may occasionally be required to ben, stoop or kneel
  • Visual \& Environmental Demands:

  • Required to use digital displays (e.g., computers, projectors, tablets, monitors) for \~6\-8 hours per work day to perform \[tasks like planning, grading, or communication].
  • Ability to work in environments with standard overhead lighting, including fluorescent or LED fixtures.
  • Ability to function effectively in environments with moderate to high noise levels (e.g., classrooms, musical performances, lunchroom(s), crowded hallways).
  • Cognitive \& Executive Demands:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and pivot between tasks as needed.
  • Ability to process and follow complex, multi\-step instructions provided in both verbal and written formats.
  • Capacity to maintain professional boundaries and engage in regular 1:1 or group interactions with students, staff, and the public.
  • ### Location and Schedule

  • This position has limited remote work possibilities
  • Expected work hours are approximately 9:30\-5:30, Monday–Friday.
  • Flexibility to work earlier mornings, evenings or weekends as needed for seasonal events and camps.
