Junior Go/Typescript Engineer (AI\-Assisted Development)
About Lexmata
Lexmata is a forward\-thinking legal technology company building cutting\-edge products that leverage AI/ML and modern cloud infrastructure to solve complex problems in the legal industry. We operate as a small, tight\-knit remote team where every engineer has a direct impact on the product and the direction of the company.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Junior Engineer with real\-world experience to join our small engineering team. This is not an entry\-level position — we need someone who has already shipped code in a professional environment and is ready to hit the ground running with AI\-assisted development workflows. You will work across our stack, contributing to Angular frontends, Go services, and cloud infrastructure on AWS, using tools like Claude Code and Cursor to accelerate your output.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a startup environment: self\-directed, resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by ownership rather than hand\-holding.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Angular frontend applications with a focus on performance and user experience
- Build and extend Go microservices that power our document processing and AI pipelines
- Write, test, and deploy containerized applications using Docker
- Provision and manage cloud resources on AWS
- Leverage AI\-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) daily to accelerate development and improve code quality
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full stack independently
- Collaborate asynchronously with a small remote team, communicating clearly and proactively with AI\-assisted workflows
- Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and new technical challenges
- (Angular 19\+ preferred; familiarity with signals, zoneless change detection, and SSR is a plus)
- building production services or tooling
- including writing Dockerfiles, managing containers, and working with Docker Compose
- (EC2, S3, SQS, ECS, Lambda, or similar services)
- such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable LLM\-powered development workflows
- such as Slack, Teams, Mattermost, Zoom, Google Meets, etc
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks from start to finish
- Strong written communication skills for asynchronous remote collaboration
- Startup mindset: comfortable with fast\-paced, rapidly changing priorities and wearing multiple hats
- Free\-thinking problem solver who can break down ambiguous requirements and deliver working solutions without constant supervision
- Experience with Rust (any level — contributions to our Rust\-based tooling are a regular part of the work)
- Familiarity with NestJS, GraphQL, or Prisma
- Experience with infrastructure\-as\-code tools (Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Experience with Python for scripting, data processing, or ML\-adjacent work
- Background in legal technology or document processing
- Competitive hourly rate, paid on a regular billing cycle
- You will perform the same work as a full\-time team member — this is not a reduced\-responsibility internship
- Throughout the trial period, you will receive regular feedback on your performance, code quality, collaboration, and ability to operate independently in our environment
- The trial period allows both sides to assess mutual fit. We want to be confident you thrive in our workflow and culture, and you deserve the chance to evaluate whether Lexmata is the right place for you
- with the complete benefits package described below
- Conversion is based on consistent demonstration of technical competence, reliability, self\-direction, and alignment with our team culture
- Salaried compensation will be discussed and agreed upon prior to conversion
- Competitive hourly rate
- Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling
- Small team where your contributions are visible and valued
- Direct access to leadership and influence over technical decisions
- Opportunity to work with cutting\-edge AI tooling daily
- Latest hardware and development tools
- Competitive salary
- Significant equity participation
- Professional development budget
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off and company holidays
- All trial\-period benefits continue
