This position is available to be filled at any Huntington Corporate office location.
Summary: The Retirement Plans Consultant will help manage, design and ensure compliance for employer sponsored retirement plans (401(k), pension and supplemental programs), serving as the primary liaison between the plans and recordkeepers, and supporting the Total Rewards Program Manager.
This role is responsible for strategic, administrative, and analytical functions:
Plan Administration \& Analytics
- Administer multiple retirement plans (401(k), defined benefit pension, supplemental plans and programs) and ensure compliance with plan documents and federal requirements
- Monitor plan performance and troubleshoot issues using reporting tools and data analysis and provide analytical support for plan design and financial wellness initiatives, including plan trends and opportunities
- Support daily operations related to contribution processing, loan processing, annual match true\-up process, trust review and reconciliations and analyze, audit and validate integrity for retirement plans
- Support plan design changes, system updates, and process improvement initiatives with internal partners and external vendors, including IT, HRIS, payroll and third\-party administrators
- Support management of third\-party administrators, actuaries, and legal partners
- Monitor vendor performance and support daily administration of programs by third\-party vendors
- Participate in retirement related aspects of HR/Payroll systems projects and processes, including identifying HRIS scope, requirements, and testing
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve quality and services to colleagues, including utilization of vendor products and services and technology enhancements
- Support compliance with ERISA, IRS and DOL rules.
- Support internal and external annual plan audits.
- Prepare and monitor required disclosures and filings, compliance testing, Form 5500 preparation, and plan documentation requirements
- Coordinate and support plan amendments, restatements, and updates to plan documents.
- Ensure adherence to internal governance processes and document and update plan procedures
- Develop and execute communication strategies with external vendors to enhance colleague understanding of retirement benefits
- Serve as the escalation point for internal and external stakeholders on plan\-related matters, including participant inquiries
- Prepare presentations for executives on plan performance and statistics.
- Support special projects such as mergers and acquisitions and organizational change initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree plus 6\+ years of relevant experience in retirement plan administration
- Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations and experience with filing and compliance requirements
- Experience with benefits administration systems (Fidelity preferred) and HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data and process information with high levels of accuracy; ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information, working to explain and resolve variances.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing and auditing procedures, reports and benefits billing
- Highly organized self\-starter with the ability to prioritize and multi\-task, plan proactively and meet deadlines
- Exceptional client service, including clear communication, professional handling of challenging situations, adaptability and collaboration in a team environment

Compensation Range:
$70,000\-$140,000 annually
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
