Hiring Department: Facilities Management
Reports To: Facilities Operations Manager
Job Location: El Paso, Texas
Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday\- Friday 7:00am\- 3:30pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.
FLSA status: Non\-exempt
Earliest Start Date: 04/13/2026
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Position Summary
Under minimal supervision and with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, performs senior level work involving the construction, operation and maintenance of specialized equipment relating to a scientific or research activity. May train and supervise others.
Supervises skilled and semi\-skilled workers and personally participates in technical work of a highly specialized or non\-standard nature.
Provides oversight of and/or ensures safety requirements are adhered to regarding BSL III, Clean Room, and other high\-risk laboratories.
Collaborates with research scientist, research engineers and faculty members, who may have overall supervision of research projects, in the design and functional application of research apparatus.
Provides oversight of and/or maintains and repairs specialized research/building equipment including but not limited to:
Inspects construction projects, renovations and modifications installed in\-house or by contractors to ensure compliance with respective requirements and other specifications.
Assumes supervisor responsibilities in absence of superior; team leader for projects.
Must be available on an “On Call” basis. Remote access to systems for on\-call requirements is allowed.
Overtime may be required.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
and
Experience: Seven years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have knowledge of construction and maintenance equipment or apparatus relating to the statement of duties and responsibilities.
Ability to read blueprints and electric schematics.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).
Occasional travel may be required.
Note: This position requires a valid drivers license.

Facilities Management, under the leadership of Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management Stanley Joshua, oversees Facilities Services, Planning and Construction and Space Management. Working together as a team, we strive to fulfill the mission and vision of the University.
The UTEP campus has a rich history, and its architecture and infrastructure is truly a unique and important aspect of this history. Our campus and facilities are serviced by approximately 200 employees working as a team to operate, maintain, repair, renovate, and clean over 5\.21 million square feet of space in 80 structures located on 421 acres.
