The Laboratory Services Volunteer at Kind Clinic will assist behind the scenes to ensure smooth lab operations. This role supports our clinical team by helping prepare supplies, maintain cleanliness, and streamline workflows. Volunteers handle all biological specimens and clinical data entry, playing an important role in upholding safety and quality standards in our sexual health services. This opportunity is ideal for students in pre\-health fields or anyone seeking hands\-on exposure to clinical operations in a judgment\-free, LGBTQIA\+\-affirming environment. This volunteer position predominately serves in the clinical setting during business hours (8:30am\-5:30pm) but may have the opportunity to also serve during nights and weekends.
Volunteer Duties:
- Preparing specimens for transport pickup
- Organizing and restocking lab supplies (swabs, gloves, vials, etc.)
- Pre\-labeling and preparing specimen collection kits
- Assisting with inventory and expiration checks
- Cleaning and disinfecting lab counters and equipment areas
- Supporting administrative tasks (e.g., scanning forms, filing logs)
- Maintaining compliance with infection control and safety protocols
- Notifying staff if any supply shortages or workflow issues arise
- Demonstrate working knowledge of all lab processes: point of care tests (pregnancy, HIV), lab specimen processing, quality assurance, and preparing, labeling, and submitting swab/urine samples to external labs.
- Perform operations duties during hours of operation and/or in field operations.

- Working knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
- Experience and comfort in issues related to substance use, harm reduction, homelessness, mental health, and LGBTQIA\+ communities.
