This position is full\-time, 40hrs, M\-F
Under the supervision of the Division Chief, Associate Division Chief, APP Leader, and Collaborating Physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) will practice within the Memory Division of the Department of Neurology. The PA will conduct outpatient clinical visits (both in\-person and via telehealth) and work collaboratively across departments and divisions to ensure continuity of care.
The PA will play a key role in the evaluation and longitudinal management of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including those enrolled in the Alzheimer Therapeutics Program receiving disease\-modifying anti\-amyloid therapies. This role includes managing complex cases, contributing to clinical decision\-making, and supporting safe and effective treatment delivery.
In addition, the PA will contribute to the development, refinement, and expansion of care models that extend beyond the traditional clinic setting, with the goal of enhancing care integration and improving the patient and caregiver experience.
This position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as initiative and adaptability. The ideal candidate is flexible, able to work independently, and comfortable engaging in a range of clinical and programmatic activities. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to effectively interact with patients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members.
Memory PA Role:
- Provides clinical care: 8 four\-hour clinical sessions per week (32 patient facing hours) and 2 four\-hour continuity of care/administrative time (8 hours per week) to complete non patient facing work such as EPIC in\-basket messages, notes, lab work etc.
- Collaborates with outside facilities and clinical staff for certain patients, and to provide general information about caring for patients to other caregivers including outside hospitals, PCP’s, VNA, and private help.
- Collaborates with the multi\-disciplinary team
- Explore innovative ways to disseminate patient and community education materials to enhance continuity of care.
- Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment.
- Maintains accurate and timely notes in the electronic medical record.
- Information Systems/Technology Skills: EPIC, electronic medical record experience.
- Quality Assurance: Skills to work efficiently and effectively and strive to do so in all aspects of position.
- Critical Thinking/Decision Making: Ability to appropriately evaluate all aspects of a situation and to independently make appropriate and timely decisions.
- Ability to coordinate among diverse populations.
- Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff.
- Safety/Compliance: Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies’ standards.
- 2 \+ years of experience required and neurology experience preferred
- Physician Assistant Licensure
- Physician Assistant Certification
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in given PA discipline.

- Interpersonal/communication: Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and public speaking skills; Good command of English language, including medical and scientific terminology.

- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow\-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
