Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month\-end closing processes.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Perform financial analysis and cash flow analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision\-making.
- Maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes\-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits to uphold corporate governance standards.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for efficient bookkeeping and financial management.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements related to governmental accounting, LIHTC (Low\-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, and other compliance areas.
- Assist with tax preparation and experience in tax\-related processes to ensure accurate filings.
- Mentor junior staff members in technical accounting practices, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and regulatory reporting.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems for bookkeeping and general ledger management.
- Experience with SOX compliance procedures and internal control assessments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of non\-profit accounting principles including LIHTC programs is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform account analysis, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliation efficiently.
- Background in governmental accounting or securities law regulations enhances your fit for this role.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, auditing, payroll processing, and financial management projects simultaneously.
