Description:
The Information Systems Technician assists with hardware set\-up and troubleshooting including computers, printers, servers, and peripheral equipment. Also provides CPSI system support for staff and physicians. Provides training on hardware, software, and CPSI to staff and physicians. This position assists in the setup and troubleshooting of the hospital’s networks. The work schedule is normally Monday through Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
- Check servers daily.
- Review Daily Backup Log and any report error promptly.
- Change and maintain back\-up tapes per policy.
- Installs and supports various personal computer equipment and software.
- Also provides user support.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and physical related information
- Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.
- Obtain PC software and train hospital staff in its use.
- Provide support and problem\-solving to all system users within appropriate response time.
- Operate and service designated data processing equipment.
- Provide a point of contact with computer software and hardware vendors.
- Actively communicates with software vendors to ensure customer needs are met.
- Install and configure appropriate network and PC equipment and software to ensure it functions according to specifications to ensure security and usability, train hospital staff, and provide ongoing user support.
- Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance and maintain security.
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems for all system users within the appropriate response time.
- Maintain records/logs of repairs/fixes and maintenance schedule.
- Provide support for local and remote staff working within a virtual desktop environment or on physical devices.
- Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Schedule and perform maintenance and upgrades on a variety of client applications, hardware/software systems, network infrastructure equipment, and/or telecommunications software with minimal deterrence to others from completing their work.
- Work with outside technical professionals to support maintenance of equipment and software to ensure customer needs are met.
- Security: Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the hospitals information systems through the monitoring of data backup, anti\-virus updates, security updates, secondary power systems redundant and perimeter defense
- Systems.
- Perform network administration tasks as assigned. This may include the maintenance of user accounts, access rights, mailboxes, security, and other shared resources.

- Minimum 2 years computer experience with proficiency in multiple computer applications, including Microsoft Office applications preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Required proficiency in general clerical office duties, i.e., computer keyboarding, calculator, with average typing skills.
- Detailed knowledge of personal computer and/or mainframe computer hardware and software and general knowledge of programming required.
- Graduate of accredited school with a B.A. or B.S with emphasis Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable sitting, standing, and walking.
- Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
- Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Works in a well\-lit, climate controlled, office setting
- Eyestrain and other conditions from use of computer monitor may occur.
- May be exposed to communicable diseases, hypodermic/IV needles, unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
- The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
