Join Our Team as an Intern (GIS)
Skeo is a small consulting firm that provides innovative and collaborative solutions for our clients, emphasizing environmental stewardship and economic opportunity. We are seeking an intern to join our dynamic and talented team of professionals.
As a GIS intern, you will support a variety of government projects that frequently include geospatial analysis in a client\-facing capacity. This intern will assist in building, maintaining, modifying, or using geographic information systems databases, and perform some custom application development or provide user support. You will assist with research, writing, document preparation and coordination of meetings and events. You will gain experience across multiple areas of consulting. The ability to manage multiple assignments, respond to deadlines, communicate responsively, and produce accurate work is required.
The position will work approximately 25 hours per week. While we are only considering applicants residing within the state of Virginia at this time, the role may work remotely or in our Charlottesville, Virginia office. Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.

Example Projects:
* Mapping and Spatial Analysis: Create maps using Esri ArcGIS tools, and analyze data as required.
* Data Creation and Cleanup: Digitize locations from aerial imagery, clean and standardize datasets, and contribute to data hygiene.
* Building Dashboards and Automation: May build dashboards or create automation for tasks using Excel, Python or other supported tools.
* Research: Researching and collecting data. Research projects may vary but would likely be related to GIS, mapping and boundary work, or reuses on Superfund sites.
* Meeting Support: Scheduling, note\-taking, identifying potential venues, developing PowerPoint presentations, checking in participants, and answering questions.
* Document Review: Assisting with ensuring that documents are 508 compliant and reviewing completed documents for compliance and accuracy.
* General Tasking: Completing general research, data entry, and writing tasks to inform the development of fact sheets, videos, StoryMaps and other communication materials.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum education of a bachelor's degree in Geology, Geospatial Science, Geography, GIS or a related field.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, such as Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- One or more years of experience working with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Familiarity with industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends in GIS technology.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, collaborative effectively, and produce accurate written work.
- Ability to balance independent work with team collaboration while managing multiple priorities.
- High speed internet access, if working remotely.
- One or more years of experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise and Survey 123\.
- One or more years of experience working with GeoAI.
- Familiarity with or understanding of GIS automation tools including ArcGIS Python API or ArcPy to communicate between technical teams and clients.
- Proficiency with PowerBI or Python.

Applicants must have internet access that allows them to perform tasks requiring major data transfers. Skeo’s standard operating hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Internship applicants should be available to work up to 25 hours per week. Skeo will only consider applicants within the state of Virginia.
