The accounting department provides the foundation of business through efficient accountancy of all financial transactions. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely vendor payments, and supporting the daily accounting operations within a fast\-paced hospitality environment. This position is an hourly position subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between Royal Kona Resort and Unite Here Local 5\.
A typical shift for the Accounting Clerk may include the following responsibilities:
- Accurately process vendor invoices, including coding, approvals, and data entry into the accounting system
- Verify invoice details against purchase orders and delivery receipts
- Manage weekly check runs, electronic payments (ACH/wire), and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain organized records of payables, contracts, and payment authorizations for audit compliance
- Communicate with vendors to resolve payment issues or discrepancies professionally
- Collaborate with purchasing and operations departments to track outstanding orders or billing questions
- Assist with month\-end closing tasks, including journal entries and reporting
- Support the finance team with additional accounting tasks as assigned

- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in accounting or hospitality management preferred
- 1–2 years of accounts payable or accounting experience (hospitality experience a plus)
- Familiarity with hotel accounting software (e.g., M3, BirchStreet, or Opera PMS) a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems
- Strong communication, organization, and problem\-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline\-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills through various methods including refined telephone etiquette, and proficient written communication skills.
