Job Description:
Provides comprehensive clinical and administrative support to the genetic counseling team to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency. Manages and completes patient intake processes, coordinates pre\- and post\-visit activities, and facilitates timely communication across the care team. Maintains strong patient engagement and collaboration with genetic counselors and other stakeholders to deliver an exceptional patient experience and optimize clinical workflows.

- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
- Must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, life sciences, or related field
- High School Diploma
- Sedentary:
- Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
- Maintain up to date review of patient screen results
- Contact patients via phone to discuss screen results and recommendation for genetic counseling
- Educate patients on the purpose, benefits and logistics of genetic counseling
- Schedule genetic counseling visits
- Obtain detailed patient history/intake information, complete pedigrees, medical records review, etc
- Assist genetic counselors in day of visit activities
- Provide follow up tracking and care
- Maintain project databases
- Work with the genetic counselors on project development, process improvements, staff education, etc.
- 1\.0 FTE (80 hours per two\-week pay period)
- 8\-hour day shifts (Monday\-Friday 8:00am\-4:30pm)

+ Ensures accurate and efficient scheduling by maintaining genetic counseling team calendars, coordinating appointments, and proactively tracking upcoming cases.
+ Minimizes disruptions through timely communication of appointment changes and updates.
+ Enhances patient readiness by educating patients on the genetic counseling process, addressing logistical questions, and troubleshooting issues.
+ Streamlines onboarding by managing intake processes, including pedigree completion and securing necessary medical records and authorizations.
+ Supports timely care delivery through proactive coordination of all pre\-visit requirements.
+ Facilitates accurate testing and sample collection by coordinating lab portal entries, scheduling blood draws, and resolving unique sample challenges.
+ Maintains responsive communication by monitoring team phone lines and shared inbox, triaging inquiries to genetic counselors as needed.
+ Reduces administrative barriers by assisting with prior authorizations and billing inquiries to ensure smooth patient experience.
+ Advances departmental goals through database maintenance, data analysis, and support for research protocols.
+ Improves patient engagement and operational efficiency by contributing to the development of patient\-facing materials and standard workflows.
+ Drives continuous improvement by assisting with documentation and review of processes.
Required Qualifications
+ Completion of post\-secondary coursework in a healthcare, life sciences or related field (preferably genetic counseling, genetics, oncology)
+ 1\+ year working in a healthcare setting

Additional Job Description:This Genetic Counseling Support Assistant (GCSA)/Genetic Counseling Coordinator (GCC) position is embedded in the Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI) Genetic Counseling Team’s mammography genetics population health program. Pay Range: $22\.04 to $30\.01 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
