Midland Care Connection

Midland Care Connection is a not\-for\-profit, community\-based organization in Topeka, Kansas, dedicated to helping older adults and seriously ill individuals stay independent and supported in their homes. Established in 1978, it offers a full continuum of care, including hospice, palliative care, home health, grief and loss counseling, and its signature PACE (Program of All\-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program. Their mission centers on "meeting individual needs through innovative care solutions," and we serve people across multiple counties in northeast Kansas.

Center for Hope \& Healing

Midland Care Connection’s Center for Hope \& Healing provides compassionate grief and loss support for individuals, families, and children coping with the death of a loved one. The program offers individual and group counseling, family support, and specialized services such as children’s grief groups, Healing Hearts Grief Camp, and seasonal programs like Surviving the Holidays. Many services are offered at no cost or on a sliding fee scale, with care provided by trained professionals in a supportive, healing environment.

Support Specialist

A Support Specialist plays a vital role in helping the organization fulfill its mission of offering compassionate support to individuals and families experiencing grief and loss. The Center for Hope \& Healing provides grief counseling and related services to those affected by the death of a loved one, creating a safe and supportive environment where people can process their emotions and find healing. In this role, a Support Specialist typically assists with client interactions, helps maintain welcoming and organized spaces, supports administrative and operational needs, and contributes to the overall comfort and care of visitors. They serve as a calm, empathetic presence—often helping people access resources, providing information, and offering emotional support during difficult moments. Through these efforts, the Support Specialist helps ensure that families and individuals receive dignified, respectful, and meaningful support as they navigate grief and healing.
