Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100\-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics and the outdoors.
Position Summary:
Fountain Valley School seeks an Assistant Athletic Director who will coordinate and schedule all team games and practices. They will help supervise the athletic facilities on campus, which includes the Spencer Penrose Athletic Center, sports fields, tennis courts and an equestrian center. Additional duties will include directing the strength and conditioning and wellness programs in grades 9\-12\.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Duties:
- Supervise home athletic contests, coordinate event staff, and manage facility scheduling.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of athletic schedules, official assignments, and team transportation to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Monitor student\-athlete academic eligibility, physical examinations, and compliance with state/district athletic codes.
- Assist in developing annual budgets, processing requisitions for equipment, and maintaining inventory.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating coaching staff.
- Act as a liaison between the department, parents, and coaches; handle, support, or direct emergency care and safety protocols.
- Assist in organizing team banquets, fundraising efforts, and promoting department visibility.
- Maintains complete athletic database tracking all athletes, their sports and letters earned.
- Responsible for coordination, administration and collection of sports program evaluations.
- Coordinates the collection and review of all athletic grades for all three seasons
- Coordinates collection and ordering of all FVS and CHSAA team/individual athletic awards.
- Coordinates travel arrangements for all programs in each season.
- Assists in maintaining the athletic budget including but not limited to invoice processing and overall budget tracking
- Maintains appropriate contact with all opposing schools regarding athletic contests.
- Assists the Athletic Director with Coordinating and promoting the FVS Varsity Club.
- Attends League meetings as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Assists with Pre\-Season planning and execution.
- Performs other such duties that are consistent with this position requested by the Director of Athletics.
- Coach two seasons of athletics/afternoon activities.
- Participate in committees as assigned by school leadership.
- Transportation of students to and from activities using a non\-CDL school vehicle
- Assists with Athletic equipment, as needed.
- Regular and reliable, in person attendance

- Must possess a valid driver's license and/or obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, athletic administration, or education; advanced degree or equivalent experience in an independent boarding/day school environment preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Lifeguard Certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR Certifications
- Environment: indoor office with frequent evening and weekend work, outdoor in all weather conditions, and high\-stress scenarios
- Physical demands: able to sit and stand for at least 8 hours per day; must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Proficiency in LMS Blackbaud OnCampus and Google Educational Suite Apps preferred.
