Temporary Paralegal

Summary/Objective: This role involves assisting with lease drafting and reviews, handling legal correspondence, conducting research on landlord\-tenant laws, and supporting litigation matters related to evictions, fair housing, and contract disputes. The Paralegal works closely with attorneys, property managers, and compliance teams to mitigate legal risks and ensure smooth property operations.

Classification: Non\-exempt (overtime eligible)

Hybrid Schedule – 3 days in office/ 2 days work from home

Location: New York, NY

Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following

  • Document preparation such as notices and petitions for housing court nonpayment and holdover proceedings, rent demands and NYCHA notices, processing of warrant requests (including processing affidavits of nonmilitary status and affidavits of default) and scheduling evictions.
  • Coordinating with process servers, marshals and moving companies.
  • Providing support and assistance to staff attorneys.
  • Interfacing with outside counsel.
  • Case file and attorney calendar management.
  • Data entry, typing, scanning and copying.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years paralegal experience; Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Outlook, Word and Excel are REQUIRED.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a group setting.
  • Must be able to multi task and thrive in a fast\-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Familiarity with housing laws, including voucher Section 8 and Project\-Based Section 8, Rent Stabilization, low income housing tax credits and leasing a plus.
  • Yardi software experience a plus.
  • Pay Range: $22\.00 \- $25\.00
