Overview:
Job Title: Payroll Assistant

Reports To: Payroll Manager

The Payroll Assistant supports the Payroll team by performing administrative and transactional payroll tasks
related to new hires, direct deposit processing, verification of employment, and special payroll programs. This
position ensures timely and accurate entry of payroll\-related data, assists with compliance checks, and serves as
backup support for key payroll functions.
The salary range for this position is $23\.55 \- $26\.44 , based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate banking setup for new hires ; attend Monday New Staff Orientation (NSO) distributing bank
- Review new hire direct deposit and tax documentation for completeness; follow up via ICIMS for
- Validate new hire information such as home address, W\-4, and direct deposit setup for accuracy.
- Save direct deposit documentation in applicable new hire folders and enter data into UKG Pro.
- Enter and validate direct deposit information for new hires and payroll\-related tickets.
- Support accurate and timely entry of direct deposit changes in UKG Pro.
- Assist with fingerprinting validation payments by coordinating with internal contacts and ensuring
- Complete employment verification requests received by mail, particularly those from state and county
- Maintain process continuity until transition to Equifax for most verifications is complete.
- Track, maintain, and retain State of New Jersey disability forms for employees in accordance with record\-
- Respond to phone inquiries related to W\-2 forms, especially during peak tax season.
- Act as backup support for the Payroll Analyst by entering and maintaining employee data changes in UKG
- Verify and validate employee information updates with the Payroll Analyst, including job changes,

High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
Two years of experience processing payroll or related work experience required.
