FINGERPRINT TECHNICIAN/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
JOB PURPOSE
The Fingerprinting \& Administrative Support Specialist is responsible for delivering high‑quality electronic fingerprinting services and providing essential administrative support within a human services agency. This role ensures accurate and compliant biometric processing for background clearances required for foster parents, employees, clients, and community members. The specialist verifies identification, operates fingerprint scanning equipment, maintains detailed records, and upholds strict confidentiality and regulatory standards.
In addition to fingerprinting duties, the position provides flexible administrative support, including reception coverage, document processing, scheduling, data entry, and general office assistance when service volume fluctuates.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports directly to the Supervisor of Support
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associates degree in business administration or related field, preferred.
- One year of experience in administrative, customer service, or client intake role required
- Experience with biometric or fingerprinting systems preferred
- Experience working in a human services or social services environment is a plus
- Full\-time; Non\-Exempt
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and comply with agency policies and applicable state regulatory requirements related to background checks and biometric processing.

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in standard office technology and software systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and scheduling systems
- Ability to learn and operate electronic fingerprinting systems such as IdentoGo or similar biometric platforms
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, including interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and community members.

- Conduct electronic fingerprinting services for foster parents, employees, clients, and other individuals requiring background clearances
- Verify identification and documentation prior to processing fingerprint submissions
- Operate electronic fingerprint scanning equipment and related software systems
- Ensure biometric submissions meet required quality standards and rescan fingerprints when necessary
- Maintain accurate records and logs of fingerprinting appointments and completed submissions
- Schedule and confirm fingerprinting appointments and manage daily appointment flow
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to background checks and clearances
- Maintain fingerprinting equipment and ensure proper functioning of fingerprinting systems
- Maintain appropriate supplies necessary for fingerprinting services
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to clients during the fingerprinting process
- Provide reception or front desk coverage as needed
- Greet visitors and assist with client check\-in
- Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate staff
- Assist with filing, scanning, and document organization
- Support administrative staff with data entry and document processing
- Assist with mail distribution and document preparation
- Provide support during high\-volume administrative periods
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned based on organizational needs
- Participate in required training related to fingerprinting procedures and equipment
- Assist with administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor
- Ability to perform computer‑based work for extended periods in both office and remote settings.
- Ability to move about the work environment and handle light materials associated with meetings or events.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to operate computer equipment and fingerprint scanning devices
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds
- Ability to travel locally
- Sufficient vision, hearing, and communication abilities to perform typical office and virtual work tasks.
