Position Overview
Apex Skin is a physician\-led and rapidly growing dermatology practice committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences. We are seeking a versatile and motivated Medical Assistant / Medical Receptionist to support both the clinical and front office functions of our Medina office.
This hybrid role provides flexibility to assist providers with clinical care while also supporting front office operations to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinic. Responsibilities may shift between clinical and administrative duties depending on patient volume and operational needs.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, patient\-focused, and thrives in a fast\-paced team environment. This individual will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver excellent patient care while supporting both clinical and administrative operations.
Schedule
- Full\-time, Monday through Friday
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Occasional Saturday mornings based on clinic scheduling needs.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, collect patient histories, and update medication lists.
- Prepare exam rooms based on scheduled procedures and anticipate provider needs.
- Assist providers with dermatologic procedures including biopsies, excisions, surgical procedures, and treatments.
- Scribe for providers during patient visits, accurately documenting clinical notes, diagnoses, procedures, and patient instructions in the EMR.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, wound care, and post\-procedure instructions.
- Monitor and complete lab documentation, biopsy logs, telephone encounters, and EMR task queues.
- Handle clinical phone calls, follow up with patients on biopsy results, and communicate provider instructions.
- Maintain sterilization processes including autoclave use and quality control checks.
- Support inventory management and maintain exam room readiness.
- Greet and check in patients while providing exceptional customer service.
- Answer incoming calls professionally and assist patients with scheduling and questions.
- Schedule appointments in person and by phone while optimizing provider schedules.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and enter insurance information accurately into the EMR.
- Collect patient payments and process transactions following revenue procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient demographic and financial information.
- Manage schedule accuracy including monitoring waitlists, cancellations, and no\-show follow\-up.
- Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.
- Assist with scanning, data entry, and administrative documentation.

- Knowledge of medical terminology

- 2\+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Receptionist preferred (dermatology experience a plus)
- Active CMA, RMA, or Medical Assistant certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field preferred but not required
- Lead Medical Assistant or Lead Receptionist roles
- Dermatology surgical assistant or Mohs support roles
- Aesthetic support roles including cosmetic procedures
- Front Office Coordinator or scheduling leadership positions
- Office management or clinical leadership pathways over time

- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the clinic day
- Frequent use of hands for typing, documentation, and clinical support tasks

- Visual acuity sufficient to read medical records and EMR documentation
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds (supplies, files, or equipment)
- Work is performed in a professional dermatology clinic environment with regular interaction with patients, providers, and staff
- Fast\-paced setting requiring multitasking, attention to detail, and calm communication
- Must adhere to all HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and Apex Skin safety policies
