    DCWP’s Licensing Division seeks an Assistant Director to oversee the Data Processing Quality Assurance (DPQA) DOHMH unit and 311 unit to process applications for DOHMH categories. The Assistant Director will report to the Deputy Director of Administrative Services.

    Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and process applications in all DOHMH license applications and all relevant information;
  • Manage the day to day operations of the DOHMH DPQA and 311 units;
  • Supervise staff, including tracking and assigning tasks, to ensure productivity and effectiveness, conducting training and providing guidance;
  • Develop, document and implement internal systems, policies, and procedures that help to organize and guide the division’s work and operations, document database issues, and improve overall performance;
  • Perform ordinary mathematical computations while accepting and processing payments, completing close outs, and other tasks as assigned;
  • Check records for accuracy of information and for conformity with established policy and procedures;
  • Back up other supervisors and units as directed;
  • Conduct complex system searches, reviewing documentation for accuracy, data entry and quality assurance for both their own work and over the work of the unit;
  • Assessing staff performance accurately and providing feedback to motivate and/or improve performance levels;
  • Assist applicants with outreach to other city agencies, as well as interagency communication to help resolve issues pertaining to their license;
  • Answer telephone calls, emails and written correspondence and communicate applicant information;
  • Attend seminars, meetings and/or trainings;
  • Follow all division and agency policies and procedures; and
  • Perform all relevant and related Licensing tasks as assigned when needed.
  • PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC \- 10124 Minimum Qualifications

    1\. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full\-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or

    2\. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full\-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or

    3\. A four\-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full\-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;

    4\. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

    \- Management experience with demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff with both goal\-oriented and team\-oriented approaches \- Strong organizational and analytical \- Experience in budgeting, purchasing, administrative management, or technological record or project management \- Experience in training, developing protocols and policies, and assessing operational efficiency \- Attention to detail, excel in time management and project follow through \- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills and \- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

    New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
