About China Labor Watch (CLW)
Founded in 2000, China Labor Watch (CLW) is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to defending workers’ rights in global supply chains. Our mission is to investigate and expose labor abuses, hold corporations accountable, and advocate for fair labor standards. CLW’s research and investigations have been widely cited by international media, governments, human rights organizations, and labor groups.
As a small but high\-impact team, every team member plays a critical role. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands\-on experience in labor rights research, nonprofit administration, and international advocacy.
Position Overview
CLW is seeking a Secretary / Executive Assistant to support administrative operations. The Secretary will report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with a small but dynamic team.
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in labor rights, corporate social responsibility (CSR), forced labor, human rights, and nonprofit operations who are eager to take on diverse responsibilities in a mission\-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage scheduling, travel arrangements, and meeting coordination for the Executive Director
- Provide daily office support, including expense tracking, invoice processing, contract preparation, and vendor coordination
- Assist in staff onboarding, internal training, and office workflow optimization
- Maintain meeting records, document archives, and internal databases
- Translate and proofread reports, policy documents, and communications (Chinese–English)
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken)
- Must be able to work on\-site in Millburn, New Jersey or New York City (remote work is not available)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or a related field
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to handle diverse responsibilities in a small team
- Excellent writing and communication skills in both English and Chinese
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
- 1\+ year of experience in an NGO, think tank, journalism, or related field
- Experience in data management, event coordination, or nonprofit administration
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast\-paced nonprofit environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Hourly Rate: $20–$25 per hour (commensurate with experience)
