- Years 1 – 5: an employee will accrue 5\.85 hours of leave, per pay period.

Under general supervision, assist with the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and monitoring of the County’s network and server infrastructure using industry standard protocols and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Tasks
Assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance and administration of network hardware and services infrastructure, including servers, routers, firewalls, switches and associated operating systems and server software. Implement and maintain appropriate security standards and protocols as applicable to all stages of the technology life\-cycle, from installation to decommissioning.
Use appropriate tools and systems to monitor network and server integrity, capacity, and security, and to detect, troubleshoot, and remediate network and server related problems. Use appropriate tools and systems to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot integrity, security, and access of desktop clients to network and server related resources and services. Use appropriate tools to monitor, analyze, detect, and remediate security, connectivity, and performance problems on LAN, WAN and VPN infrastructures. Use appropriate tools and systems to monitor physical security and integrity of all network and server related resources including hardware, cooling, and power.
Support log generation, collection, retention, and reporting from network, server, and related systems to assist with operational monitoring, audits, and investigations.
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of identity and access controls, including authentication mechanisms, role\-based access, and least\-privilege principles for network and server systems.
Drive to County sites to install, configure, repair, and maintain network and server related equipment and related infrastructure. Train end users as needed. Maintain and supplement current documentation; maintain and supplement records of network, server, and related hardware inventory and security. Interact with PC and network vendors and contractors. Continue professional development, by maintaining and advancing job related knowledge, skills, and abilities using provided educational resources.
Provide support for identity, authentication, access control, monitoring, and logging systems associated with network and server infrastructure, and assist with compliance\-related operational requirements applicable to local government IT environments.
WAN and LAN infrastructure includes Cisco and other network technologies and platforms. Server infrastructure includes Microsoft, Cisco, and Linux platforms and services for both data and telecommunications technologies. Provide technical support to Telecommunications in the implementation, operation, and maintenance of telecommunications related network and server infrastructure. Provide technical support to help\-desk and PC technicians with all aspects of PC, printer, and other hardware installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, and maintenance. Provide technical support and training for users accessing network and server resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of federal, state and county laws, rules, regulations, practices, and procedures related to information technology.
Knowledge of information technology best practices for network, server, and PC hardware and software installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance.
Knowledge of industry standard information technology best practices for physical and logical security.

Knowledge of secure remote access technologies, authentication methods, MFA, and VPN infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a valid driver’s license. OR
An Associate’s Degree and two (2\) years of direct work experience in server and network administration support. A valid driver’s license is required. OR
The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4\) years of direct work experience in server and network administration support. A valid driver’s license is required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prior to operating a County\-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
Basic working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft server infrastructure and networking technologies is required.
Basic working knowledge of and experience with Cisco IP routing and Ethernet switching technologies is required.\\Testing and certification may be required to demonstrate minimum knowledge, skill, and ability. \*\* PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic working knowledge of and experience with Linux server technology is preferred. Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications are preferred. Experience with scripting or automation tools, such as PowerShell or similar administrative scripting languages, is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires long periods of attention to detail, extensive computer keyboarding, and occasional lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, or crawling to maintain, repair, install or connect personal computers, server and network related hardware, and peripherals weighing up to thirty (30\) pounds; ability to drive an automobile. Pension – Legacy Plan (hired prior to 10/1/2015\), in which the employer contributes 14\.70%.
