How you'll contribute
A Telemetry Technician who excels in this role:
- Under the supervision of an RN, performs telemetry monitoring.
- Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
- Performs administrative or clerical duties an assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
- High school diploma or equivalent Required; Associate’s degree Preferred
- Licenses: EMT, EMT\-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA Preferred or completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN).
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required;
- Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire; Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course Certifications: Certified
- Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
- Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
