Skagit Symphony Overview Skagit Symphony is a 501(c)(3\) non\-profit organization powered by more than 100 volunteers, including our orchestra musicians, Board of Directors, committee members, and many others who contribute their time and skills to support our mission. Our small employee staff consists of the Music Director, Executive Director, Director of Operations, Orchestra Manager, and Administrative Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate team and help support the people who make that mission possible. As Orchestra Manager you will be responsible for facilitating orchestra logistics for each Skagit Symphony performance cycle. This role ensures coordination of activities between the orchestra and Symphony administration, providing smooth communication and support. Position Overview The Orchestra Manager will maintain up\-to\-date master orchestra roster, manage communications with orchestra musicians, acting as contact person for all\-orchestra and section\-specific messages, create resource documents for musicians, and coordinate with section leaders and Music Director to fill open chairs/recruit and arrange for auditions of prospective orchestra musicians. Responsibilities include acting as liaison with rehearsal venue staff; coordinate special arrangements when needed, open/close facilities; be responsible for room set up, take down, and instrument and equipment storage. Orchestra Manager will track inventory of Symphony\-owned instruments, communicating observations of needed repairs replacements or procurement of new instruments, and foster orchestra member engagement in Symphony events/activities, in collaboration with Symphony staff. The complete job description can be found at https://www.skagitsymphony.com/join\-our\-team Required Qualifications \& Skills The ideal candidate is a people\-person with good communication skills (emails, texts and phone calls in a timely way), approachable, organized, self\-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience and familiarity with operations of a community orchestra, orchestral instruments, performance practices, and repertoire; ability to read music is preferred Minimum qualifications include being 18 years or older, having a high school diploma or GED, a strong customer service background, a demonstrated history of volunteerism, U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, and a valid, clean Washington State driver’s license. Nonprofit or social services experience and bilingual skills are preferred. Compensation, Schedule, and Location Hiring wage will be $20\-22/hour DOE. Sick leave will be accrued. The position is approximately 15\-20 hours per week, and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends for concerts, fundraising events, and community presentations, including on\-going availability on Monday evenings, dress rehearsal evenings, and performance weekends Skagit Symphony has its office and music library in Mount Vernon. Our concert and dress rehearsal venue is McIntyre Hall at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon. ADA Specifications This position requires the ability to sit, climb stairs, stand, lift up to 30 lbs., as well as speak, and hear, sometimes for extended periods of time. It does require the ability to use a computer and office equipment traditionally found in office settings. There will be limited local and regional travel.
