Athletics and Physical Education offers a diverse program of physical and outdoor education, recreational services, intramural sports and intercollegiate athletic competition, plus Wellness programs for faculty and staff, fitness centers and fitness classes for the entire Cornell community.

The Assistant Athletic Director for Events and Operations works with the Associate Director of Athletics for Events and Operations to stage more than 200 games and events during each academic year. This position independently supervises assigned contests and events, as well as supports operations led by other members of the Event and Operations team when needed. In addition to coordinating the staging and presentation of games and events, this role is responsible for the hiring, scheduling and supervising of over 200 Temp Event Staff and Student Employees. The Assistant Athletic Director for Events and Operations serves as the primary contact person for coaches, administrators, game officials, security, and others involved with the staging of games and events, working to ensure athletic department events are safe, competitive, fair and enjoyable for all who attend or participate.

*This is a full\-time, 12\-month position. Frequent evening and weekend work is required.*

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years’ of relevant experience in event management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communications, organizational, planning, and problem\-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to successfully work with several constituencies at once and immediately address and resolve problems and issues.
  • Ability to operate within the parameters of institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and policies.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in sports administration or relevant field.
  • Previous athletics event management experience, including supervision of game workers and experience working in a collegiate athletics department.
  • Previous experience working in events within NCAA, Ivy League or other Division I Athletics institution.
