  • The Rogel Cancer Center is an ambulatory oncology care site dedicated to delivering high\-quality, patient\-centered cancer care. As a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center, it is recognized for excellence in collaborative, state\-of\-the\-art research that shapes how cancer is prevented, diagnosed, and treated. With a three\-part mission of patient care, research, and education, the center consistently ranks among the top programs in the nation and is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, helping to set national standards for cancer care. Located in Ann Arbor, the Rogel Cancer Center supports patients across the full cancer care continuum, including diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.     Responsibilities\*

  • Provides patient intake and prepares patients for exams, visits, and procedures while ensuring excellent customer service and efficient patient flow. Responsibilities include information gathering, direct patient care, data entry, medication administration, provider support, patient follow\-up, and prescription management. Additional duties include taking vital signs, administering injections, performing EKGs, assisting with basic diagnostic tests and procedures, collecting specimens, maintaining and sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, preparing exam rooms, and completing related administrative tasks.

    Required Qualifications\*

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program
  • OR current enrollment in, or completion of coursework in a healthcare professional program (e.g., medical school, PA program, nursing program, or related clinical training) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 \- 3 years).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology.

  • Graduation from a medical assistant diploma program or an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 \- 3 years).
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA)

  • This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U\-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

    Background Screening

  • Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre\-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre\-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U\-M campuses.
