Job Title: Extended School Year (ESY) Occupational Therapist (OT)
Location: Stoneham Public Schools
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Position Summary:
The Extended School Year (ESY) Occupational Therapist provides therapeutic services to students with disabilities during the summer program to support the maintenance of critical skills and prevent regression. The OT works collaboratively with educators and service providers to ensure students can access their educational program
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support students’ development in areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, self\-regulation, visual\-motor integration, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Implement and monitor IEP goals, collecting data on student performance and progress
- Collaborate with ESY staff, including special educators, paraprofessionals, speech\-language pathologists, and nurses, to integrate therapeutic strategies into daily programming
- Adapt materials, environments, and activities to support student access and participation
- Develop and implement individualized or small\-group interventions based on student needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, progress notes, and compliance with district and state requirements
- Communicate with families as appropriate regarding student progress and strategies to support carryover at home
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on student programming and progress
- Ensure compliance with all district policies, state regulations, and special education laws
- Current Occupational Therapist license in the state ofMassachusetts
- Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Experience working with school\-aged children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred
- Knowledge of special education processes, including IEP development and implementation
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Monday \- Thursday starting Monday, July 6th and ending Thursday, August 6 from 815 to 1215
- Ability to engage in physical activities including lifting, positioning, and assisting students with mobility and self\-care tasks
- Ability to model and support motor activities and therapeutic exercises
