Title: Educational Aide \- Job Coach

Reports to:Principal of Pupil Services

Work Schedule:188 Day Full\-Time Contract (2026\-2027 School Year)

Primary Job Function:

  • The Delaware Area Career Center
  • Educational Aide is responsible for assisting, supporting, and working closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing a variety of support services to help students experience success in the career\-technical environment. This job description is a comprehensive list of essential functions. Essential functions are job duties a staff member must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio State Board of Education Aide Permit appropriate for the assignment
  • Valid professional licenses appropriate for assignment
  • Educational Aide General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for taking instruction from classroom teacher
  • Responsible for working with small groups as well as individual students
  • Responsible for promoting a favorable image of the school district this includes supporting community partnerships that enhance district programs and services
  • Responsible for researching ways to identify tasks that can be incorporated into Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and/or classroom training activities
  • Responsible for assisting students and meeting the needs of 504 plans
  • Responsible for evaluating and documenting student progress to support training objectives. This includes but is not limited to:
  • + Task analysis forms

    + Narratives

    + Passing information along to team members

    + Passing information along to employers

    + Maintaining accurate records and meeting required deadlines for all paperwork

  • Responsible for offering help to students when needed or when behavior suggests the need for assistance. This includes:
  • + Avoiding being intrusive

    + Solving student concerns discretely

  • Responsible for supervising non\-classroom activities. This includes but is not limited to:
  • + Arrivals

    + Departures

    + Lunch

    + Recess

  • Responsible for supporting an inclusive educational environment where all students participate in appropriate group activities
  • Responsible for never leaving a student unsupervised
  • Responsible for working with the classroom instructor to address persistent behavior problems. This includes but is not limited to:
  • + Charting behaviors
  • + Encouraging a positive outlook

    + Reliability

    + Cooperation

    + Accountability

  • Responsible for promoting the proper use and care of classroom equipment for such items as computers, media resources, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping program and storage areas orderly. This includes but is not limited to:
  • + Storing equipment
  • + Shelving books

    + Cleaning spills

    + Sanitizing classroom equipment when directed

  • Responsible for performing clerical duties when requested
  • Responsible for participating in parent conferences, open houses, and other school events when requested
  • Responsible for maintaining required licenses and certifications
  • Educational Aide Responsibilities for Job Coach:

  • Responsible for providing on\-site support to students at community job placements
  • Responsible for teaching and modeling workplace skills such as communication, time management, safety, and task completion
  • Responsible for breaking down job task into manageable steps and offering individualized instruction
  • Responsible for collaborating with employers to ensure clear expectations and a supportive environment
  • Responsible for communicating regularly with teachers, as needed with families, and school staff about student performance
  • Responsible for assisting with job placement development, including identifying new community partners
  • Responsible for encouraging positive work habits and appropriate professional behavior
  • Responsible for maintaining documentation related to goals, progress, and job\-site activities
  • Professional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for upholding board policies and following administrative procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining visibility in the community and promoting a professional image of the school district
  • Responsible for developing a strategy to accomplish personal performance objectives within specified timelines
  • Responsible for observing established school hours
  • Responsible for enforcing applicable Ohio Revised Codes
  • Responsible for participating in professional growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for accepting personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Responsible for striving to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others
  • Responsible for keeping current with advances in technology and how it relates to specific job responsibilities
  • Responsible for respecting personal privacy and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Responsible for watching for student behavior that may include a problem and reporting those concerns to the appropriate administrator. This includes but is not limited to:
  • + Profanity
  • + Excessive teasing

    + Bullying

    + Distress

  • Responsible for wearing appropriate work attire and maintaining a neat appearance
  • Ensuring Student Safety:

  • Employees shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of students and student property. Employees shall discharge their duties and responsibilities to students and property according to the applicable Laws, State guidelines and Board policies.
  • Knowledge, Skills \& Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable about Ohio Department of Education’s Career\-Technical and Adult Education systems
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies related to students
  • Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA and HIPPA
  • Knowledge of all DACC adopted software
  • Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
  • Knowledge of safe practices in classroom activities
  • Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in collaboration and decision\-making, seeking consensus whenever possible
  • Skilled in conflict resolution
  • Skilled at developing rapport and interacting effectively with studentsand staff
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with students to provide feedback, maintain an orderly atmosphere, and foster a safe and healthy school environment
  • Ability to handle behavioral and emotionally charged situationsin a calm and effective manner
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and emotional stability
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to assist students with various physical and intellectual needs
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs
  • Ability to “think outside the box”
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures

  • Working Conditions – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking at will and must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.     + Movements that require balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, or reaching.

    + Working at heights, in confined spaces, or under diminished/variable lighting.
