Description of Work
This position is the first point of contact for visitors within the Division and callers phoning the main DWM phone number. This position also provides coverage to the DEQ Receptionist for Green Square. This position may work independently or in combination with other employees on large mailings, special projects, surplus, business card ordering, EMC requests, portal information, and motor fleet management reporting. This position is also responsible for assisting staff with other administrative duties of the utility scale decommissioning program and EPA grants. This position performs other administrative duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Position is responsible for receiving calls to the DWM main number, determining the nature of their business, and directing callers to proper individuals.
- Position is responsible for receiving, opening, and sorting all Division mail and distributing to the appropriate Sections.
- Position provides clerical support to the Division as needed and has responsibility for a variety of correspondence and transcription duties, correspondence management, record keeping, filing, and database management.
- This position serves as a back\-up to the DEQ Receptionist.

The Division of Waste Management is responsible for protecting the public health and environment through assuring that solid and hazardous waste and underground storage tanks are managed properly, and existing contamination is cleaned up across the State of North Carolina. This is accomplished through the Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste, Superfund and Underground Storage Tank Sections, and the Brownfields Redevelopment Section. This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays.
