*Duties:
- The Kennel Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and operation of kennel and shelter functions within the Animal Rescue and Assistance Division. This position oversees animal care, facility cleanliness and maintenance, staff performance, customer service, and adoption, foster, and rescue activities. The Kennel Supervisor ensures compliance with all local and state regulations related to animal welfare, maintains a safe and sanitary environment for animals, staff, and the public, and supports the Division's mission to promote humane treatment and responsible placement of animals. Supervises daily kennel, shelter, and adoption operations to ensure humane care, safety, and proper handling of animals. Instructs, trains, coaches, and assists staff in assigned duties, proper animal handling techniques, sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and the use of equipment and materials. Oversees animal feeding, cleaning, health observation, medication administration as authorized, and general animal well\-being. Monitors animal health and behavior; reports concerns to veterinary staff or management and ensures appropriate follow\-up. Assists staff with customer inquiries, adoption processes, foster and rescue coordination, and resolution of issues in a timely and professional manner. Ensures adoption and foster procedures comply with department policies and state regulations. Participates, as directed, in interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training new employees. Reviews departmental practices and procedures and recommends improvements to ensure efficient, economical, and effective use of resources. Manages work schedules, assigns priorities, and coordinates daily work plans to meet operational needs. Recommends personnel actions, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and training needs. Oversees the operation, cleanliness, safety, and routine maintenance of departmental facilities and equipment. Ensures staff compliance with all applicable local and state regulations, certifications, licensing, and departmental policies. Maintains accurate records and documentation related to animal care, adoptions, staffing, and facility operations. Communicates regularly with the Manager of Animal Rescue and Assistance regarding operational status, challenges, incidents, and areas of concern. Works assigned schedule and complies with City timekeeping, attendance, and personnel policies. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all required licenses, certifications, clearances, and job\-related requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3\) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record. State of Texas Basic Certified Animal Control Officer certification or ability to obtain within one (1\) year of employment. State of Texas Euthanasia Certification or ability to obtain within one (1\) year of employment. Experience developing and maintaining effective customer service strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet\-based systems. PREFERRED: Prior supervisory or lead experience in an animal shelter, kennel, veterinary, or related environment. Experience working with animal rescue organizations, foster programs, or municipal animal services.
