The Surgical Dental Hygienist at Clermont Periodontics \& Implant Center plays an essential role in delivering advanced periodontal care, supporting surgical workflows, and elevating the patient experience from consultation through post\-operative healing. This position is responsible for implementing comprehensive periodontal therapy, assisting with surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient education, and leading the coordination and execution of the Clermont Perio Dental Hygiene Study Club.

This role strengthens our commitment to helping patients achieve and maintain healthy gums and reinforces our professional relationships with local dental hygienists, referring offices, and community partners.

Core Responsibilities for Periodontal Hygiene Care

  • Perform comprehensive periodontal charting, probing, and documentation at every hygiene appointment.
  • Provide scaling and root planing (SRP), periodontal maintenance, debridement, and adjunctive periodontal therapy as indicated.
  • Assist with pre\- and post\-surgical evaluations, including healing assessments, suture checks, and implant maintenance.
  • Capture diagnostic radiographs and intraoral photographs; assist with CBCT imaging and review when needed.
  • Review medical histories, identify periodontal risk factors, and collaborate directly with Dr. Scott regarding treatment needs and disease progression.
  • Maintain operatory readiness, strict infection control, and proper instrument sterilization at all times.
  • Patient Education

  • Educate patients on periodontal disease, oral–systemic health connections, and customized home\-care routines.
  • Reinforce treatment plans established by Dr. Scott and ensure patients fully understand recommended procedures and follow\-up care.
  • Deliver clear, compassionate post\-operative and maintenance care instructions tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Documentation \& Practice Support

  • Accurately record clinical findings, notes, and completed procedures in
  • Open Dental and Kasper.

  • Communicate findings and updates efficiently to Dr. Scott to support accurate diagnosis and prompt decision\-making.
  • Monitor hygiene\-related instruments and supply levels, reporting ordering needs proactively.
  • Dental Hygiene Study Club Management

    The Surgical Dental Hygienist leads the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Clermont Perio Dental Hygiene Study Club, including:

  • Scheduling meeting dates, CE sessions, and educational topics in partnership with the Managing Partner.
  • Managing RSVPs, outreach, communication, and reminders to local hygienists and referring providers.
  • Creating and preparing presentation materials, handouts, CE packets, and attendee resources.
  • Supervising event setup, check\-in, refreshments, CE documentation, and attendee engagement.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records, participation reports, and follow\-up correspondence.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for study club participants and partner practices.
  • Clinical Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with surgical assistants and the treatment coordinator to ensure seamless transitions through the surgical schedule.
  • Provide support during sedation appointments and advanced periodontal or implant procedures.
  • Participate in morning huddles, contribute to workflow planning, and support the calm, organized environment that defines the Clermont Perio experience.
  • Specialty Surgical Responsibilities

    As part of a periodontal and implant specialty practice, the Surgical Dental Hygienist may also:

  • Support the management of periodontal disease therapy and long\-term maintenance protocols.
  • Assist during surgical procedures including grafting, implant placement, and surgical extractions.
  • Provide pre\- and post\-operative care for sedation and surgical patients.
  • Perform implant maintenance, including peri\-implant charting and decontamination.
  • Capture radiographs and CBCT scans to support surgical diagnosis and planning.

Pay: $45\.00 \- $50\.00 per hour
