Temporary Director of Finance
FLSA – Non\-Exempt
Position Summary
This temporary, part\-time, remote position will support the organization’s financial operations during an approximately 14\-week period. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly and year\-end close processes, and assisting with capital campaign tracking and reporting. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in QuickBooks, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with internal stakeholders.

- Duration: 14 weeks
- Schedule: 25–30 hours per week within the hours of 9am\-5pm
- Compensation: $40/hour, plus $1,000 completion bonus
- Benefits: Paid sick time and holidays
- Reports to: Executive Director

- Monitor organizational bank accounts and notify the Executive Director of cash flow needs, including inter\-account transfers
- Review and approve accounts payable entries in QuickBooks on a weekly basis
- Review and verify monthly credit card expense classifications for accuracy and appropriate coding
- Prepare and issue monthly invoices for county contracts, including corresponding entries in QuickBooks
- Generate additional invoices as needed
- Provide certificates of insurance to partners and vendors upon request
- Support billing processes for Children’s Programs, as needed
- Support the Fiscal Year 2026 soft close process, including preparation of year\-end journal entries, maintenance of supporting schedules, and preparation of financial statements
- Perform monthly close procedures, including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparation and posting of journal entries
- Updating financial schedules
- Financial reporting as requested
- Maintain and update capital campaign tracking schedules and related documentation, including pledges, cash receipts, and payables
- Record journal entries and update depreciation schedules upon project completion
- Prepare and communicate cash flow projections to the campaign team, finance committee, and board
- Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director/Operations Director and Finance Assistant
- Attend monthly Finance Committee meetings
- Attend additional meetings and provide support as needed

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated experience with nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and restricted funds
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online preferred) including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Experience with monthly and year\-end close processes, including reconciliations and preparation of financial statements
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial data management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a remote work environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

* Anticipated Start Date: This position is expected to begin on or around May 26, 2026, with the possibility of a later start date up to June 22, 2026\. The organization anticipates confirming timing in mid\-May; however, candidates must be prepared to begin within this range on relatively short notice.
