Curriculum and Work\-based Learning Supervisor

Non\-Union Professional, Grade 8 (commensurate with experience and background)
In collaboration with the CTE Director, CTE Program Administrators and regional CTE partners, this position supports high\-quality instruction through CTE curriculum compliance verifications, ensures compliance with Michigan Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE) requirements, fosters strong industry partner engagement, and the supports the overall effective operation of CEPD 32 programs. The Supervisor of Work\-Based Learning and CTE Curriculum provides leadership and operational oversight for curriculum, related professional learning, and work\-based learning (WBL) across Kent ISD Career \& Technical Education (CTE) programs, including regional CTE programs. The Supervisor supports program improvement, staff development, and student success in alignment with the mission and vision of Kent ISD.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Secondary School Administration and/or Career and Technical Education Administration.
- Valid Michigan Secondary School Administrator Certificate, or eligibility to obtain within three years.
- Experience and/or graduate study in supervision, administration, and instructional evaluation for secondary programs, including CTE and WBL.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a teacher and/or administrator; CTE teaching or leadership experience preferred.
- Evidence of strong leadership skills and experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Evidence of organizational, budgetary and collaborative decision\-making skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative/supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong technology skills and ability to effectively use data systems to support program decisions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CTE program improvement processes, OCTE requirements, and state program standards preferred.
- Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate ongoing, high\-quality, classroom\-embedded professional development that positively impacts instruction, learning, and teacher performance.
- Design and deliver professional learning based on state, regional, and national trends, including integration of academics and 21st\-century skills into CTE programs.
- Work in collaboration with KCTC Curriculum Coordinators, as well as regional partners to verify CTE curriculum compliance, certifications and credentials.
- Support regional CTE instructors in curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with the observation and/or evaluation of teachers and support staff consistent with district\-approved evaluation processes.
- Support and facilitate administrative efforts to ensure all programs meet Michigan OCTE standards, including:
- Support the development, monitoring, and annual update of the CEPD regional 5\-year plan.
- Plan and facilitate program evaluation cycles, improvement planning, and documentation of outcomes.
- Participate in state OCTE trainings, meetings, and conferences to remain current in CTE policy and requirements.
- Facilitate articulation, dual enrollment, and Early Middle College (EMC) partnerships with postsecondary institutions.
- Provide administrative supervision and support for all work\-based learning (WBL) activities across Kent ISD CTE programs.
- Ensure WBL programs comply with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and OCTE rules, including:
- State\-approved WBL models (e.g., clinical, co\-op, capstone, internship, job shadow, virtual WBL)
- Training agreements and training plans
- Documentation, monitoring, and record\-keeping requirements
- Employer site evaluations and safety checks
- Supervise and support district WBL coordinators, ensuring alignment with state and local policies.
- Collaborate with instructors, counselors, and WBL staff to expand employer partnerships, placement opportunities, and industry\-recognized experiences.
- Support the development and tracking of student employability profiles, hours, credentials, and labor market\-aligned experiences.
- Serve as the administrative liaison to regional business/industry partners and workforce development organizations to strengthen employer engagement.
- Promote WBL opportunities to students, families, employers, and school partners.
- Facilitate Program Advisory Committees and ensure meaningful industry involvement in curriculum review, equipment recommendations, credential alignment, and program evaluation.
- Strengthen partnerships with employers, workforce development agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Represent Kent ISD as a liaison to industry groups and occupational advisory teams.
- Coordinate countywide staff development and improvement efforts aligned with CPIs and Program Quality Measures.
- Collaborate with CTE departments such as Technology, Pupil Accounting, Student Support Services, and Work\-Based Learning to advance system\-wide initiatives.
- Promote career and technical education and workforce pathways throughout Kent County.
- Maintain positive public relations with families, districts, employers, and community groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of CEPD 32 and Kent ISD CTE programs.
