- In the Overhead System, clear hazards, protect the public and maintain or restore service by locating faults, making temporary or minor repairs, refusing transformers, sectionalizing circuits, and transferring load.
- In the Underground System, refuse transformers and sectionalize circuits.
- Make permanent repairs to secondary conductors and services whenever practical, except under storm conditions.
- Report conditions in the field promptly and accurately.
- Disconnect and reconnect service.
- Operate reclosers on distribution circuits.
- Perform operations as directed on lines, at Company unattended substations, or at customers' substations.
- Make emergency patrols of 13 or 26\-kv transmission and distribution circuits, reporting conditions found.
- Make voltage and load tests on energized circuits or equipment.
- Perform clerical work related to this job.
- Keep in good order all tools, materials and equipment required in this work.
- Operate car or light truck, keep interior of vehicle neat and orderly.
- Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group, including the duties of Lineman/Linewoman\-Grade 1\.
- Perform any of the duties of Street Lamp Inspector, where required.

- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Have had at least one and one\-half years' experience as Lineman/Linewoman\-Grade 1, or the equivalent.
- Be resourceful in handling situations of any kind usually encountered in the job.
- Be trustworthy.
- Be neat, clean and orderly in work and person and able to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
- Must possess a U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Summary
Perform the work required in the operation, maintenance and repair of the transmission and distribution plant on wood poles and equipment on mats or in vaults, and the work arising in connection with customer trouble and service calls.
Metropolitan Electric Division which has a main Headquarters in Clifton and a Sub Headquarters in Irvington. Assigned work location could be Clifton or Irvington depending on workload and business need. Successful applicants will enter a mandatory six\-month training program which will consist of formal training and “hands on” training with experienced Troubleshooters.* Sign on bonus available for qualified applicants who successfully complete the pre\-employment process and meet the time requirement for bonus eligibility. Hire must stay in Fully Qualified Lineperson or Troubleshooter classification for 24 Months to retain Hiring Bonus. Hiring Bonus paid out after 12 months of employment.
