Job Summary
The Accountant III will provide accounting oversight, monitoring, and reconciliation of the budgets for the Provost Office and Resource Planning. Guide, advise, and provide training to the administrative staff in the Provost’s office, Academic departments, and the Provost divisions. Responsible for the preparation of a variety of complex, standard, and special financial and budget reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate high\-level managerial financial reports from UTA systems and data warehouse as requested by the Provost and AVP.
- Monitor, review, and maintain all the Provost’s financial accounts; prepare and update monthly financial reports to track costs.
- Reconcile and review the Provost and Academic Resource accounts for accuracy.
- Track special large awards and commitments; monitor and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the awards; develop ad\-hoc reports for managers.
- Provide guidance and procedure training to the accounting and administrative personnel in the Provost’s office, Academic units, and the Provost’s Divisions.
- Assist in developing business models and analyzing the cost and efficiency of academic and special programs as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, or related field.
- Five (5\) years of relevant work experience or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
- Knowledge and experiences in higher education.
- Knowledge and experience in preparing management financial reports.
- Excellent customer service and collaboration skills.
- Proven team player who proactively contributes to the success of the team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external units effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external groups and individuals; collaborates well in a team environment and contributes to shared outcomes.
- Knowledge and experience with cost accounting, including partnering with others to ensure accurate, timely information.
- Demonstrated ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office.
- High level of integrity in handling confidential information and communicating appropriately with the team on a need\-to\-know basis.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to structure work to support team priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, while staying aligned with the team, communicating progress, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Attention to detail to ensure high\-quality, accurate, and reliable work.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple competing priorities.
