What You Will Do
The Engineering Services Division (ES\-DO) develops, maintains, and applies a diverse set of engineering capabilities to deliver innovative solutions in support of Los Alamos National Laboratory's scientific and national security mission. Within ES\-DO, Engineering Services \- Strategic Operations and Execution (ES\-SOE) provides critical capabilities in Strategic Execution, ensuring division\-wide accountability, compliance, efficiency, and alignment with institutional priorities.
ES\-SOE is seeking a detail\-oriented and proactive Operations Specialist to provide operational and programmatic support across interconnected functions. This role is responsible for supporting project and program assessments, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring operational activities are executed in alignment with division priorities and compliance requirements. The Operations Specialist will deliver high\-level customer service and responsive support to leadership and stakeholders, while communicating complex operational information clearly and effectively across diverse audiences.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a dynamic environment. Working both independently and collaboratively, this individual will contribute to strengthening operational discipline, improving workflow efficiency, and supporting a resilient, high\-performing ES\-OPS team culture.
This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills and experience of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Operations Specialist 1 ($60,500 \- $93,600\)
- Assist in ES\-OPS daily operations to ensure alignment with division priorities, compliance standards, and institutional objectives
- Assists in procedure reviews, inspections, and/or evaluations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility and/or organization
- Coordinate meetings by managing schedules, preparing agendas, capturing notes, and supporting follow\-up on assigned actions
- Ensure that processes are followed through with efficiency, accuracy, and with high quality, while understanding and maintaining priorities
- Assists in performing assessments to ensure the facility and/or organization systems are operating properly and are being maintained within required limits
- Assist in managing enterprise software systems and operational tools to ensure accurate documentation, workflow tracking, and reporting integrity
- Compile and maintain basic performance metrics; prepare routine status updates, reports, and documentation to support operational visibility and deliverable tracking
- Provide project/program support to Project Leaders, including tracking deliverables, monitoring action items, and coordinating cross\-functional activities
- Assist in tracking performance metrics and preparing operational reports and presentations
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment to effectively execute operations goals
- Entry\-level knowledge of organizational practices and process\-improvement methodologies
- Entry\-level knowledge of the VBE program to support the establishment of a single, authoritative source of virtual portfolio asset data, ensuring accessibility for stakeholders
- Entry\-level knowledge of engineering procedures, policies, and processes, with the ability to support their implementation and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite and database software
- Advanced experience developing data analysis and assessment plans, developing a data management plan, developing metrics and key performance indicators
- Demonstrated experience in interacting with customers in a customer service\-related setting
- Demonstrated expert skills with MS Office suite and database software
- Advanced knowledge software inventory
- Demonstrated experience in new hire onboarding
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including experience preparing correspondence, documents, procedures, with considerable responsibility for content while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to resolve problems independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact efficiently with all levels of personnel and customers
- Experience working with confidential or proprietary information, or sensitive information, including CUI
- Proven ability to transfer knowledge effectively to non\-technical personnel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, independently prioritize and manage multiple concurrent responsibilities, and contribute meaningfully to overall team goals. Ability to work independently and collaboratively

- for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

Operations Specialist 2 ($72,800 \- $115,400\)

Minimum Job Requirements:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Education/Experience at Operations Support Specialist 1: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at Operations Support Specialist 2: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
