Here at the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD), we believe in the importance of providing our community with indoor and outdoor facilities to host private events. CARD has been providing these opportunities and positive experiences in Chico for more than 70\+ years.
The Event attendant plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction during events held at CARD parks and facilities. Traditionally, the Event Attendant performs a wide variety of duties related to customer service, custodial, and maintenance to ensure our facilities are open, ready for use, and maintained throughout the event.
This flexible part\-time job works well for the working professional, a college student, or someone wanting to put a little excitement in their life on the weekends. \Please note, this position is NOT for an event planner.*
Who We're Looking For:
- Motivated, independent workers who will identify what needs to be done and take action.
- Someone who is willing to work an inconsistent schedule, and understand that the hours fluctuate depending on the time of year.
- Individuals who are reliable, have clear communication skills, and a positive attitude.
- Event Attendants are responsible for opening and closing facilities for activities and events; preparing the facilities for use including set\-up and take down of chairs, tables, and equipment; ensuring premises are vacated, cleaned, alarms are activated, and all doors are secured and locked.
- They monitor activities which include walking the facility to ensure room capacity adherence and exercise crowd control; observe equipment for defects; observe participants for inappropriate conduct, or non\-compliance with policies and procedures.
- They perform custodial and maintenance duties at facilities and parks including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms, emptying garbage cants, sweeping debris, etc.
- Drive a District vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct CARD business.
- Event Attendants assist with the set\-up and break down for CARD Special Events and remain on site through the event to monitor the crowd and perform other duties as needed.
- Maintain contact with the Rentals Specialist and Rentals Coordinator about scheduling issues, hazardous conditions at the facilities, and any other pertinent information.
- Front Desk Coverage which would include serving as a receptionist; screening calls, referring customers to appropriate contact people, and take messages and complaints. Must provide quality and professional service at a public counter responding to a high volume of telephone calls and in person visits.
- Ability to work irregular hours as required, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends with varying schedules.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with public, co\-workers and vendors.
- Ability to identify and analyze potential problems, situations, and needs; and carry out solutions appropriately and quickly.
- Ability to respond appropriately to facility users within the context of District policies and procedures while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Ability to perform work in indoor our outdoor areas subject to year\-round environmental conditions including heat, damp, coldness and humidity.
- Ability to perform moderate manual labor including walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving racks up to 75 pounds.

- This position is year\-round, and is not on a consistent schedule. Hours fluctuate depending on the time of the year and seasonal event needs. The earliest shifts start at 6am, and the latest shift goes until 12:30am.

Mandatory Staff Trainings: All virtual \& in\-person training will be confirmed after candidates are hired
Employment Dates \& Times:*
Employees will receive 40 hours of sick leave per year accrued at 2\.8hrs per pay period. All unused hours are rolled over on January 1st up to a cap of 80 hours.
