Position Description: Legal Assistant, Workers’ Compensation
Job Type: We are offering both part\-time and full\-time position from 25 to 40 hours per week. The position is remote with occasional need for in office meetings and work.
Summary: The Legal Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Attorneys. The Legal Assistant must be able to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, processing and maintaining file organization, preparing and e\-filing or sending out correspondence and pleadings, as well as calendaring for the attorneys. The Legal Assistant must be extremely detail\-oriented, efficient and organized as well as an effective communicator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This job description defines the essential functions and responsibilities of the Legal Assistant, but is not an all\-inclusive list. Duties or responsibilities may be added or modified in accordance with the business needs of the firm.
· Process daily mail, including scanning and sorting of incoming mail
· Proficiency with EAMS filing and Meruscase
· Sorting, naming all new claim files
· Proofread and e\-file legal documents
· Provide administrative support to one or more attorneys
· Mail, fax, e\-mail or arrange for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, opposing
counsel, court officials and other outside entities
· Answer phone calls, take messages and redirect calls when appropriate
· File, organize, scan, copy and fax documents in a timely and organized manner
· Maintain attorney calendars by scheduling diaries, reminders, conferences, hearings,
depositions, meetings, etc.
· Facilitate completion of deadlines by maintaining multiple agendas and provide timely
reminders
· Communicate clearly and effectively and work professionally with all attorneys and
support staff assigned to the team
· Consistently produce high level and accurate work that meets the firm standards
· Regular and reliable attendance
· Logs in medical records to client files including mail, medical records, medical bills, hearing notices, discovery.
· Assembles the medical index and follows up on the acquisition of medical records.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer and work at least a 25\-40 hour work week;
· Ability to type quickly and efficiently;
· Ability to work on and look at a computer screen for long periods of time;
· Ability to talk into a phone for long periods of time.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university preferred;
· Significant prior experience working as a Legal Assistant in Workers’ Compensation;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel) and other
applications and/or systems (i.e., Adobe, Internet, Meruscase, EAMS).
